But I’m not going to hold every cop responsible for the actions of the government we as a people put in charge. If anything, you and I are responsible for this.

It's all good. I get DTH. I don't understand him, but I get it. Funny thing is, if you go over to the 2A thread, we get along just fine over there. He has a very nice collection of freedom sticks, and I get a lot of good advice from him. So it's a weird friendship, but it works. I prefer to value the friendship over the difference of opinion on the role of peace officers. He has his points about excesses and overreaches, but he's also talking about a very small percentage of those who took the oath.

I just enjoy occasionally posting the amusing or interesting tidbits from what I see out there. "Cops" or "Live PD" it ain't...usually, it's more along the lines of Mayberry, but we do have our high pucker factor moments. Those I usually leave out, since they invite more controversy. But just FYI, earlier this month we had a chase come out of Florida at 6 am. Domestic kidnapping. He's on the phone with his Dad, telling him how he's going to kill himself and his wife, who's in the car with him (victim). We pick up the chase just inside GA, and it goes 16 more miles at speeds in excess of 90. Finally get the car with stopsticks, then PIT, and take him into custody after two Taser deployments and what can only be described as a vulgar pigpile. I was on the sticks, and part of the pile.

He's alive, albeit probably looking at an extended vacation with the DoC, and she's alive. I'll trade that for any criticism that's leveled, or even deserved, about serving as the arm of an over-reaching government. Had we not "reached" him, odds are that both of them would be dead right now.

Tiny cows. I'm still stuck on that one.....

You cant drive without tail lights because it's a danger to others on the roadway. This idiot refused to show ID or get out of the car when asked, and wasnt going to take a citation. By law, the officer must take that person to the magistrate under arrest. Seems pretty open and shut case....you can debate the law from a moral stand point, but you can't deny the person in the video broke the law, and caused his own arrest

Usually, when you see videos of people acting like that from the get go with the protesting and screaming for their moms, they are usually up to something. I’d like to know the full story on this one before I condemn the officer. That being said, he did escalate it quickly. He wasn’t a threat at any point and there was no need to cuff him at any point that I saw.

I'm sure this cop would have known that this guy was nothing more than a loudmouth momma's boy... not El Chapo.

Every vehicle outside of maybe motorcycles (and even that may not be true) has at least 2 tailights. Relax.

You must not have seen the same video I saw. The video I saw was of the cop pulling out his gun as soon as he exited the cruiser. What insight did that cop have at that very moment that the driver wasn't going to show ID? And the driver did get out of the car, but the cop asked him to get back in the car while he had his Glock aimed at him.

I'm not arguing whether the driver broke the law. So what? For violating a minor traffic law, you get to have some sadist roll up on you with guns blazing?

I guess my thing is that most cops simply don't understand several simple things when it comes to interacting with civilians. One, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. If the only interaction most people have with cops is petty assed traffic violations or citations that are going to drain money out of their pockets for the smallest of infractions, then how can they really expect much civilian support? Also, in their effort to gain "command presence", they end up either escalating a situation or just being disrespectful and arrogant. Lastly, the fishing and poking that cops do in an effort to shakedown and trap citizens ("You mind if I search your car?", "Where are you going?", "Any guns or bombs in you car?")... It's like the 4th Amendment doesn't even register in their day to day interactions with civilians. And to be honest, they should assume ALL citizens have a gun since the 2A is still legal (for now).

He took his gun out because the guy had refused to pull over for him and drove to a parking lot for a specific reason, the threat level is a little higher when someone evades the police

So, how long have you been a deputy sheriff? You sound like most 25 year old punks driving a worn out Crown Vic. making a "high threat level" stop because someone didn't put their car in a ditch when the "I'm looking for a drunk" lights came on.

If you feel the need to draw your firearm when you approach a vehicle, why are you approaching it to begin with? Get on your PA and do a "call back". Transition to high-risk tactics. Stay behind cover (your engine block) and call for backup. The days of the "high-speed window rush" are over...and rightfully so.

Didn't watch the video, but an approach with gun drawn should never have been an approach, IMO. There are other, better ways these days.

I got chewed out my some anabolic ******* cop because I drove to a parking lot to pull over. It was right in front of us so it's not like I took him on a high speed chase. I'm not pulling over into a bike lane on a busy street in the middle of rush hour traffic. I was calm and courteous in explaining this to the officer, but he just ranted and raved and told me how he could have taken me to jail for what I did. I just rolled my eyes. Some of these guys are mental.

This was all for failing to use a turn signal, lol.

Parking lot or exit ramp (when reasonable) if a cop is pulling me over, they'll just have to deal with it.

I feel sorry for greywolf in this thread because he knows how most cops treat people and he can't defend it. He seems like a decent dude though.

I enjoy the dialogue, and trust me...there are quite a few folks out there who don't care for me at all. Sometimes, you have to be the butthole.

"most cops" :rolleyes: there are 4 million interactions between law enforcement and citizens, every year...i think you would be suprised at how probably 85% of them go
