More that the link says “new” but the article is from 2015 and they’ve had them longer than that.

I don’t have an issue with them being used in conjunction with a warrant but no they shouldn’t be used as a passive search of every building a cop happens to drive by.

That's a bit troubling, Did anyone see the final 4 or 5 episodes of the TNT series The Last Ship last season?

I agree. The kid had a knife and the officer (right or wrong) did what he was trained to do. His adrenaline kicked in and he went in a zone.
