To Protect and to Serve II

You're focusing on trivial details and not paying attention to (or choosing to ignore) the actual issue here. The chief being high or not is of little importance. But he did smell of alcohol.

Oh Ras, if you were smarter I'd likely explain how you taking this single line out of a single post and completely out of context is silly. But since I know you aren't smart enough to understand context, the application thereof or even basic reading comprehension, I'll just let this one go.

Perhaps you should just knock off and head on to sleep.

Duty bound... once the cuffs go on, you gotta go to jail. It's the law.

When getting briefed from Officer Hawkins about what happened, Sgt. Nocella said, “So he can go ahead and head to jail, right?”

As Hawkins responds by saying he doesn’t have a problem with letting Hein go, Nocella interrupts and said, “Once the handcuffs go on, he goes to jail.”

Nocella continues, “If you date an animal, this type of (expletive) happens. So if he decides to help an animal and not act like a law-abiding citizen, his sorry (expletive) goes to jail.”

“Hindering?” asks Officer Hawkins, regarding what charge they should place on Hein.

“Hindering, uh, not following or obeying, whatever,” Nocella answers. “You were here. If you can make a stretch, if he raises his voice above what mine is now, he goes for (disorderly conduct). But he goes in a patrol car going to jail in the next five (minutes).

So for three weeks, they only had the word of the former chief to go on. And the remainder only came out in the past couple of weeks while an investigation is ongoing.

Why don't you give it a little time for crying out loud.
Not 3 weeks... 4 days, at the most.

And in your efforts to sound pious, you look more like a copsucker because you would rather ignore the fact that the chief was (possibly) impaired, and would instead play games about whether it was reefer or alcohol... as though that makes a difference any other time.

I wondered that myself.

Thought I posted the other link where I found the answer:

Corey Jones: Nouman Raja arrested in man's shooting death | www.palmbeachpost.com

Raja, 38, was being booked into the Palm Beach County Jail late Wednesday and was expected to attend first appearance Thursday morning as prosecutors and his attorney, Richard Lubin, discussed whether they could agree on bail.

Prosecutors charged him with one count of first-degree attempted murder for the five of the six shots he fired, including three misses and two shots that hit the drummer’s arms — one in his left arm near his elbow and another that entered the back of his upper right arm.

I'm not sure how they are getting "attempted" murder out of that...

LG? Can you offer a legal opinion on why they would separate the shots out like that?

The charges, I don't know. I do see he was also charged with manslaughter. I am trying to get an answer for you, and will get back to you when I have some information.

It's appreciated, but no need to go out of your way. It's just the first time I've ever seen attempted murder pressed on someone when the victim was killed.

Article could be wrong. But, I have a relative who's a prosecutor, and I have a call into him to see if he has any information on how one charges in that fashion.

Sorry, apparently need to see the charging document to really have an idea.

Just weird. Shot him six times, five of which were "attempted murder" and the sixth was the manslaughter charge.

From what I'm reading though, that AT&T roadside call will cook his goose.

I remain if the opinion that we all have to be super careful about snippets of info from video or audio. For example let's say the suspect is on audio saying "hold on," but it's 2 am and he's armed. Just because he says that doesn't mean it's all that's gong on.
