I must say that I disagree with this. 2 wrongs don't make a right. The officer was speeding, but he wasn't endangering anyone or driving erratically. No need to be pulling anyone over while they are carrying on with their business and not bothering anyone. I also didn't really care for the civilian asking for the officers badge number and name and asking him where he's going. That is really none of his business. Now, this officer is probably going to get some kind of disciplinary action (oh wait... cops don't police other cops. Strike that) and he's been embarrassed on social media over essentially doing nothing.

- Trooper was speeding. Apparently not answering a call. So he was in the wrong.
- It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario in a marked unit, especially on the Interstate. Drive the speed limit, and you'll have cars stacked up behind you for half a mile. Drive 15 over, and you'll get complaints. If I'm not enroute to a call, I run 5 over, in the middle or right-hand lane. That's my signal that (a) I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere, and (b) I'm not waiting for the first brave soul to pass me. Seems to work. Since my "Interstate Rule" is 15 over, I see no double-standard here.
- I don't know what the current mentality is in Texas, but I can tell you that where I am, the recent spate of ambushes against LEO's has us on the edge here. If you "pull me over", please don't freak out when I step out with my rifle at the ready. You can blame, or thank, whomever you choose to attach that to...but I have to try to be ready for whatever happens. Sad, but that's just how it is right now.
- Trooper was apparently in the wrong. Trust me, he'll answer for that now that it's on the 'net. Motorist is an absolute dumbass. He created that scene, and he's proud of it. If he keeps doing that, one of these days, he's going to get embarrassed. I doubt if he'll post that one on YouTube.
- For God's sake, is it football season yet?

I agree with you completely. It was a dumbass move.

But the Trooper was speeding, and there is no requirement for "hazard" on a prima facie speed violation. By the letter of the law, the Trooper was in the wrong.

Having said that...and bearing in mind that there's no indication that this Trooper was "going somewhere"...if you call in a suspicious person in your neighborhood, that's not a Code 2 or 3 call, but I'm going to get there as quickly as I can...and rightfully so.

We agree (for once), just from different angles.

Not every law has to be enforced because most of them are stupid and are violations of our rights. I'm trying to get you cops to understand that you have a choice... you can either stand with the people you swore to protect and serve and uphold the Constitution, or you all can stand behind these politicians and their ridiculous laws.

Brother, you are preaching to the choir. I won't claim that I was always this way, but I adhere to the mantra of "Serve and Protect".

The oath I took was before God, and to the people I serve. Like I said, I won't claim the moral high ground...I've made my share of mistakes...but I make it a point to never get anything on my badge that Brasso won't take care of.

You might be surprised to find out what a large percentage of the blue line really thinks about politicians...and ridiculous laws.

Gotta feed the dog. Later.

A drunk driver this morning was traveling the wrong way on I-40. A state trooper made the loop and hit him to stop him. The driver is dead and the trooper is injured.

I don't think I can't fault the trooper. I don't know of any alternative way he could have stopped him. The drunk was running trucks and cars off the road causing accidents.

What do you guys think?

probably saved an innocent's life. No pity on drunk drivers. wish they'd all have a single car collision and die. In a ChristIan way, of course.

Most DUIs are habitual, repeat offenders.

I don't think police will get much static over actions like this.

Its when they play Blues Brothers with drivers that have busted taillights or use improper turn signal that gets most people upset.
