To point towards Currie's resume for those who don't know it.

I'm ok with the hire, would have been fine with either Blackburn or Fulmer also. Resume looks good. To start a controversy (or not) IMHO Kiffin would have done well if he had stayed here. He was a good recruiter and a good on field coach. Obviously his maturity and the way he left burned bridges that will take more than a decade, maybe a lifetime to rebuild. The exodus of players after he left, along with Dooley's limitations as a coach were what put us in the dark ages.

That's not something that makes me believe our sports are going to be competing for championships anytime soon. There's more to being an AD than budgeting and fundraising.

You are comparing Manhattan, Kansas to God's country. I have never been to Manhattan, Kansas, but I think I have a pretty good idea what it looks like.

I swear, it sounds like you just described Hamilton.

Except for having a degree from UT, for being a prior power 5 AD, for being a top ten fundraiser at a school in Kansas (not Clemson), and for winning an AD award, I think you are on to something.

I'd like to review the videotape before commenting on whether Fulmer got screwed or not.

It's just as backward and ignorant as east TN. Just flatter.

Our new chancellor has some b a l l s. She could have taken the easy rout an selected a local favorite. Say she hired Blackburn or Fulmer and it goes south. She would have had at least 1/2 of the vol nation sharing the blame. Going this way she owns it. Frankly I like it.
At some point all ADs make enough mistakes and have to move on. Just like coaches they have a shelf life. I hope this one stays awhile.

Currie fired Deb Patterson in 2014. She'd been coach at KSU for 18 years, but Currie said at the time of the firing that he was unhappy with her team's recent record and the trajectory of the program and wanted to return the program to national prominence. He then lured Jeff Mittie away from TCU and Mittie has turned the program around, going 59 – 36 in his three years.

Currie's handling of the Leticia Romero transfer situation brought him national attention – little of it positive.

I wasn't commenting on the people. I was commenting on the environment/scenery, etc. You think it's easier to recruit to Manhattan, Kansas or Knoxville, Tennessee? They were 40 spots higher on the Director's Cup rankings.

Bottom line on Currie?

On court results and national prominence matter to him.

He's not afraid of firing a long-time and popular coach if her results aren't good.

He's not adverse to replacing a female coach with a male one.

I fully support him, but man that worries me that he worked under the Hamilton administration. Not going to lie

Was he at Kansas State when Leticia Romero was being held hostage and they refused to grant her a release? If so, it speaks volumes about his attitude towards female basketball players. He might be a good choice for the football or men's basketball programs, but if you are a female student athlete, I'm not sure he is a welcome addition to the university.
