Butch's legacy will be known as the guy who takes the job nobody else wants. He will clean up a huge mess but won't be able to live up to high expectations after a 3 year pass. Once high expectations are placed on his program he will fail. The reason he takes these jobs? Because he will get paid handsomely to run a clean program for 3-5 years and rebuild the program's image. Then he will jump to the next pile of elephant feces. It will be a continuous cycle for him.

Unfortunately if it is true it does NOT mean Butch is interested in Ole Miss. Next rounds on me ya'll.

He's great at getting pile-diving reps, you know...

SECRant, I would link it but Freak frowns. No one likes a Freak frown.

It is not an article on SECRants, it is in a forum just like this one. The op has Vols in his user name. He claims he knows this “Per a sauce”. BTW, Not my typo. He wrote that he has a sauce.

Ole Miss is neither that stupid or desperate. His agent is trying (in vain) to make Butch look like an SEC caliber coach.

He would be the best hire to "Clean up" the program. For the foreseeable future they will be under the microscope of the NCAA. With that said, they won't be overly concerned with wins and losses, which is a perfect fit for Butch and for them, he won't cheat, get in a prostitute scandal or anything even remotely close to that.

It would be a good fit.

Could be that has something to do with lack of touchdowns. Maybe Butch got negative Title IX stuff like "scoring" and "red zones" confused with football.

Ole Miss has contacted Sexton about Butch as their coach.

Carry on...

Are they that ridiculously stupid and desperate over there? The guy, if he’s around for LSU, will be 0-10, will have never beaten an SECw team, so why in God’s name would they want him? He’s a failed SEC coach who’s shown that while he can help rebuild a program in disrepair to a fairly respectable level, that he can’t get that same program to championship caliber at any level.....as a matter of fact, he can’t get it to that same respectable level and maintain it....we’ve gone from a pretty strong respectable team as of the last two years, back down to a raging tire fire this year.

Correction ......Ole Miss is that desperate and they displayed much ignorance and arrogance recently per the shape they are in with the NCAA. So yes would be a perfect fit for Butch.

Butch might be liked at Ole Miss I think they are satisfied with a few losses a season as long as they can get to a bowl game.

Depending on how bad the sanctions are going to be, that might be exactly what they want. A coach to build up for a couple years and swing again later

What do we need to throw in to make this deal happen?

Why would Ole Miss ruin their program even more?

They may want Butch to come run a clean program for three to four years, not caring if he wins more than six to eight games - just keep the NCAA investigators happy and the sanctions at a minimum. If they want him, let them have him for NO BUYOUT... No offense to anyone, but just let him go so we can get on with our search and not have to worry with the buyout $$$. GBO

Laugh at Butch if you want, but there are programs that need a coach like him. I wrote in a previous forum that he can fill a niche. He runs a clean program, requires his players keep their grades up, and can recruit and rebuild a roster. That is exactly what we needed 5 years ago and Ole Miss needs now. Every school is not looking for a NC coach just like not every team in NASCAR is running for a championship. Step by step!!

I agree he would get their APR through the roof and get them their 7-5 8-4 win seasons that to Ole Miss would be ok. He will be able to recruit there and get them headed in the right direction then in 5 years they can fire him.

Goes right along with brick by brick.
