To get to 6-6 or better next year

Jones and Mahoney are obviously good buddies and Jones is a big believer in staff stability or Mahoney would have to be in trouble.

Is anyone else worried that Butch may be too loyal to make changes when necessary?

This is where my mind is at currently. I think his loyalty can be both his greatest strength or biggest weakness. If it is truly a talent level thing (and it very well could be!), then the stability of that loyalty is exactly what is needed. But if Tennessee is still hoping on pins and needles to eek out 7 wins in two years, then it may be his downfall. I just don't see how building a passable OL should take 2 or 3 years to accomplish. Personally, if there isn't marked improvement by the OU game next year, and they are still able to only rush 4 to keep our QB on his back, I will be disappointed.

You can't take a kid right out of high school and expect them to play competitively on an SEC line. They lack the speed, strength, quickness, knowledge, and often even physical size to compete. There is often a great deal of growth that occurs between 18 and 20. Usually the 3rd year is the time an offensive lineman really takes shape. Few believe that offensive line play requires the skill level needed to play well.

Except that we are starting upper classmen that are as clueless as any of the freshmen and clearly demonstrate a lack of good coaching.

The OL will get much more experience next year with this lights out defense we bring next year. Many many 3 and outs next year with this D.
