I expected those people to boat race us, and the fact that we stood toe to toe with such a team and held our own is a point of pride. The Vols are BACK and RELEVANT and they can hold their heads high. Now, I have an appointment with a half pint of Jim Beam and some beer chasers to take away the sting.

I didnt expect the turnaround after the initial melting down. They came back, even the defense stood up to force those FGs. You could feel a blowout coming.

I think it’s awesome to have these moral victories. Add the bowl game wins at the end of the season and we’re right back to where we used to be.

I'm with you. I had to walk away from the TV at the end, but I've experienced a lot more heartbreak from this team.

Let's get drunk and look forward to next week.

When you play UGA and Bama you have to play nearly perfect and beat them and the officials. The Vols got close but were not flawless in any phase of the game.
We didn’t need to be flawless. We just needed to not ****ing choke. We were close. But that isn’t much comfort when you expect to compete at the top in the sec

Joey took a few series off and that's enough to lose to Kirby. NOT blaming him at all. I'm saying he played extremely well, but perfect was required.
He said in the post game interview they (he) got greedy and was forcing some things when our offense was stalling. Took responsibility for the lull.

The moment was too big for Gilbert. Poor guy. I’m not mad, just gutted it had to end like that. Good news is, once we’re fully healthy I feel confident we’ll take care of business against everyone else. This team has surpassed my expectations. Go Vols!
I put that in large part on the coaches. All night they lined him up to kick from center and right, which could easily have been done to give him a favored angle. There was time to run a play and take a time out.
