To all you Twitter warriors...

Yall either dont get it, or refuse to accept the fact that twitter is a platform used for communication. Every fan base has bad apples, but Im proud to say that the majority of Vol fans tweets that I read are very respectable. Communication between a fan and a recruit it does not make the fan a "stalker" or "creepy." Its unfair to label someone that way simply because you may or may not agree with the things they do. So please chill with the stereotyping. Thanks.

Yes it could be a good tool to use, but it's bad when kids are saying they need to get off Twitter because some fans are saying they're slow or not good enough to play here, or asking if they're greyshirting, etc. Some people just need taken out back and put out of their misery.

Yes, because so many of them do this. Oh, wait thats untrue. Nearly the entire 14 and 15 class use twitter, and recruits, more often than not, tweet about how Tennessee has the best fan base on twitter, that we are always "showing love." In the end thats all its about, and nearly all recruits enjoy it.

This is total BS! I follow twitter all the time. All the recruits love it when you tweet about them. Every time I tweet to a recruit he retweets it or favorites it. The rude people on there get ignored. Recruits are smart enough to know when rivals are putting negative things out there. You speak of something you obviously know nothing about.

Leave the recruiting to the coaches. If you have to say something to the recruits, say "Go Vols" and that's it. You are making the coaches job harder

The only thing I ever say to the recruits is congratulations on all your hard work. There is nothing creepy about that. But it appears that some of you think differently and not in a good way.

People who tweet underaged recruits probably don't have kids.

Strongly disagree. All kids need positive encouragement. I, personally am not Tweetin about a Miley Cyrus concert or what girls they're dating, or pressuring them to attend a certain univ, or talkin bout star ratings. A lot of stuff on twitter is positive. I agree that some folks are idiots, but I'm not one of them! :zeitung_lesen:

By the way, my kids are 17 & 7! Tweetin is an actual activity that my 17 yr old son enjoys, so I can spend time with him bonding while tweetin! :)

I think its more the fact of the some of the fan base calling out recruits who will be droped, not make it cause of grades etc...these recruits read this forum and it makes us look like morons...so should just keep your 2cents to yourself cause that's basically what it is...we are not the coaches nor do we get paid to be so let them do there job!!

I've never tweeted a recruit in my life, but don't think there is anything wrong with a little "Go Vols, Come to Rocky Top, etc"

If it gets more personal than that it gets a bit weird and creepy.

I've sent some tweets & the recruits usually answer or respond. It's ALWAYS positive though, and I never say anything negative about other schools. Don't want to act like I'm some weirdo stalker but I think they appreciate a "good job Friday night" or a "Go Vols!" Every now & then. I'm sure our recruits are smart enough to realize there are trolls & bad apples everywhere.

This is an ignorant statement. No one's just tweeting random 18 year olds.... theyre either current players or recruits.

You tweet them as fans, not anything else. It's a "glad you're committed to UT", "looking forward to seeing you in Neyland", pretty benign yet supportive stuff from 98% of fans... that's all.

Btw, got 2 kids, one of which is a freshman at UT.

I think its adds to the problem of these kids considering themselves superstars before they even play a down of college football. When people you've never met before tell you you're awesome when you've accomplished nothing, what else would you think about yourself?

Make it harder for the coaches? SMDH. . You guys that don't like twitter stay away from it. For those of us who are on it doing nothing other than encouraging and congratulating players and recruits (who by the way are constantly favoriting and retweeting tweets from Vols fans), we'll continue help show Volnation in a positive light and as a great family for recruits to be interested in and a part of.

A lot of people on here know nothing about Twitter evidently. The recruits are regularly talking about how TN shows the most love on Twitter and have the best fans in the country. From what I've seen Twitter has only helped in recruiting.
Several on here also live in glass houses and think it's weird to tweet something encouraging to a recruit, who regularly retweet and favorite, but at the same time they don't think it's weird to be on here all the time reading about said recruits and following their every move.

Not to mention Volnation has a thread dedicated to tweets. It's only been viewed 1,883,261 times.

I like to tweet recruits in the middle of night from the bushes that surround their homes while wearing black clothes.
