Where were you the last 8 years?????

Let me break it down reaaaaaal slooooooow so you might understand some things.

We were going to hire Greg freaking Schiano. Curries was going to make a big, explosive and expensive hire. Then those big explosive and expensive coaches started turning us down. Just like last time and the time before that. If Schiano was somebody at the UTADs first choice as coach then I question the that persons integrity.

The belly aching about nobody wanting this job were already true before yesterday happened. That's point number 1.

Point 2: One of our remaining top recruits bailed out as soon as Schiano was announced. Once he saw UT wasn't going to deliver on their promise to do better than Butch Jones, he bailed. Oh but Schiano is a good recruiter. Well so was Butch Jones supposedly.

So,if you weren't so blind, you'd see that those things you have been belly aching over were already true about UT because of Butch Jones and the UT administration and the previous two athletic directors and the big name booster(s) and all the hugely embarrassing losses on national TV over and over and over and over again and the stupid coaching cliches and the loss of institutional control with all the sexual harassment issues.

Currie was brought in to fix it and he failed spectacularly. Yesterday didn't ruin UT football. It had already been ruined after the worst season and worst team in UT football history. The fact that Schiano was even named the new head coach is proof that everything I am saying is truth.

The UT fans and people of the state of Tennessee absolutely did the right thing yesterday and for once in my life I saw social media used for a good purpose and have a good result.

If you are mad today, all your seething anger should be directed at Butch Jones and at the people that let Butch Jones happen to us. The fact that nobody took care of the Butch situation a long time ago is what caused this cancer to grow and spread out of control.

That is all. Long live the Tennessee Vols.

Thus far it has been big and explosive. Might wind up being expensive too. And was damned short to boot!!

Still no reason to be mad at Butch. He is just a symptom of the disease. That disease is the Haslams. .

Haslams are the reason we can't make a good hire. It's not the fans or the program. Until they get out of the way this is what we've got and will continue to have. .

Currie also told a recruit if he didn't have a coach in place by mid December that he would probably be out of a job. Sounds like he could be right on both accounts.

That's why he is hiding in the root cellar today.

When you say "nobody" wanted the job, we know that's not true. They could have hired Mike Norvell, Lane Kiffin or even Les Miles by now and been well on the way to securing the class. I don't think Horn wanted to de-commit and neither did Cade Mays, Taylor or Dixon. They just want some hope that they won't be playing for Tennessee under business as usual. There is still time to salvage the class but they have to move now. There is no focus or leadership here.

I agree, but I think we’re screwed.

All this depends on WHEN the MOU was Signed!!

If it was signed 2-3 weeks ago then Schiano was Curries guy from the Get Go!! Which makes Currie/Haslam AXIS OF EVIL, complete Morons!!

Let me rephrase "nobody better wanted the job" I don't think people had any of those three ahead of Schiano on their list of desired coaches. And that's saying something because I don't think most people seriously considered Schiano as an option.

Here is part of, if not the, answer,

The perfectly-ill-timed-transition of leadership, where apparently they thought everything was fine / rested on their laurels beginning Aug 18, 2016 (of course, they were looking at all athletics, but most importantly likely dreaming of a football-bowl-game in 2017 as adequate-accomplishment and on into 2018):

"As I thought about finishing this job well and how extremely proud I am of what everyone in our department has contributed collectively to get us to where we are today, I decided that this was a good time to set a target to wrap up my career as a Director of Athletics," Hart said.

Currie essentially admitted that Schiano was his one and only choice in his statement released not long ago. Shred the bastard.

Yes, it would be key to understanding a lot of this if we knew (a) who else was contacted and when, and (b) when the MOU with Schiano was signed. It is one thing if Currie approached a half dozen other coaches and got turned down before he turned to Schiano, but something altogether different if Schiano was the primary target from the get go. UT can only hire a coach who wants the job.

Still no reason to be mad at Butch. He is just a symptom of the disease. That disease is the Haslams. .

Haslams are the reason we can't make a good hire. It's not the fans or the program. Until they get out of the way this is what we've got and will continue to have. .

Money (and I mean BIG MONEY) talks, and peons walk. The Haslams are not going anywhere (Unless the courts intervene - we'll have to wait on that).
