ITS YOUR FAULT PEOPLE!!!!! YOU CAN BE MAD ALL YOU WANT, BUT IT BOILS DOWN TO YOUR THE TEAM THAT GOT CPF FIRED!!!! I swear this is turning into the movie Wildcats, I guess we need to hire Goldie Hawn to come in and coach this bunch of thugs into shape. Maybe the next coach should try step aerobics and music and maybe we could have a decent football team again. Why in the world did the university let the players come in to the press conference and bad mouth them the way they did. It will take 3 or 4 years to get recruiting back on track because of this.

Simmer down....Recruiting is just fine. As it stands now, they are doing excellent in recruiting for next year. Eight 4 star players to be exact.

That display put on by the players at the presser yesterday was just another example of the lack of discipline and character that this team has exhibited throughout the year. Again, it falls on the shoulders of the head coach. Them having those feelings is one thing. The fact that they felt that acting them out in that manner at that place and time is compltely another.

standing up for someone you believe in shows lack of character? IMO it's the exact opposite. He sat in almost every one of these young men's living room with their parents and told them to come play for him and UT. We see such a very small part of what CPF does for these players and to call them out like that is crazy

ok. I'm out of the loop. The youtube video I saw ended with him saying "Thank You"...I only saw one player who would not stop clapping and sit down and let him speak. Somebody please fill me in. Oh, and was that his wife?

Yep Yep Yep.. I agree........... I think they had the right idea and it was actually a good thing to see them stand up.. One thing is that they are still fairly young, we all reacted diffrently when we were younger... I would have had less respect for them if they would have not said a word.. It is kinda wierd to to see it this late in the season and/or after it took something this big to bring it out though

but them trying to find a place to lay the blame is another show of their character, which is mighty similar to a Fulmer trait.

You missed the point. I did not say it was wrong to want to stand up for their coach. It was the way that they did it and the time and place that was inappropriate. It was a terrible public display. I'll stand by that.

Not sure what you're looking for but a couple of players made comments during the press conf

Briscoe- asked if it was now all about the money
Ramon Foster- UT is a family, CPF is our guy and not to blame, etc
Berry- feels like he lost a body part when told, UT is a family, will give extra effort on Sat.

brief but that's the basics. I believe utsports has the players interviews as well (they're out there somewhere because I watched them last night)

thanks. Didn't Berry, who I love, say a few weeks ago he plays "Johnny Majors football"?
I understand it is hard and sad, but either our players completely suck or the coaching staff is not cutting it..which one would the players choose of that scenario? Bittersweet, it is.

Even if it is the players sucking, that is still a reflection of the coach's ability to evaluate, recruit, develop, and manage talent. When you have had the same guy at the helm for this long, either way it comes back to the coaching.

Standing up for the guy is one thing, but calling out the university (who they play for) is another. they should have stepped up themselves and took the blame for forcing the university to have to make a tough decision. I thought it was completely absurd of them to call out the university and mike hamilton for something that was ultimately their fault along with CPF. Just shows you the level of immaturity they have. They need to understand that they ultimately play for the university of TN not just the coaches. there is a T on the side of their helmet not a PF.

That is not the way to stand up for someone you believe in. That was tackless to start cussing in a nationally televised press conference, interrupting it with "questions." It showed a complete lack of discipline and decorum. I don't think they acted like "thugs," an entitled bunch of punks is more like it.

They may play for the university of tennessee, but many of them would not be at ut without fulmer's recruiting of them. They are not immature, for once a group of players stood up in support of the one who believed in them. Yes Fulmer gave players more than enough chances throughout his time at UT, but its because he truly believed in each one of his players. You don't see coaches that believe in their players both on and off the field like Fulmer every day. Fulmer cared more about the players than just how they played on Saturday. He wanted to see each one of them succeed in life as well.

I applaud the players for showing how much they care about and support and trusted Phil Fulmer. If anything hurts recruiting it won't be the players outrage, it will be Hamilton firing the man who helped get them to commit to UT in the first place.

Well you can applaud them all you want but what they are outraged about is ultimately their own fault. Once again supporting Fulmer is one thing but mouthing off at the university was not the way to go about it. You can spin it around all you want but you can't say that was the right way to support the coach.

So let me get this clear, you don't think that throwing chairs, cussing in a press conference, cussing directly at media prior to a press conference, interjecting during a nationally televised press conference, or swatting at TV cameras constitutes immaturity?

If anything, that bunch of kids made Fulmer look bad during a moment that Hamilton was trying to do everything he could to respectfully discharge a coach who needed to be let go.

This program needs a clean house in more than just the coaches offices. Many (not all) of the players showed exactly the same lack of discipline that they have shown on the field for years.

It was a tough decision that needed to be made. It was made under the pretense of unifying a divided program. Fulmer deserves a proper send off, but I just have a hard time cheering for those guys, when they act like entitled fools. I am a UT grad, that is my school too.

That's the last I have to say about it.

It just goes to show you that the younger generation today has a bad habit of just trying to blame someone else for their problems. The university fired their coach, why, because the way they have played this season and the way the future was looking for TN football. If they had gone out and executed this would have never happened. I never heard one of them step up and make claim of that and apologize to the coach. If they did I never heard it.

Although they are put on a pedestal at UT, they usually don't act like it. Yesterday they did.
