Following in his dad's footsteps...

Jakobik served as a graduate assistant on the University of Tennessee staff. During his first two seasons at Tennessee, Jakobik was an assistant under offensive coordinator Randy Sanders. He later moved to wide receivers and special teams. In 2004, Jakobik was a part of the Vols staff that won the SEC Eastern Division Championship and the Cotton Bowl over Texas A&M. As a player, Jakobik was a walk-on at the University of Tennessee, eventually earning a scholarship as a defensive back. The former Vol was a part of the 1990 Tennessee squad that claimed the SEC regular season title and knocked off Virginia in the Sugar Bowl...and Tennessee teams that made appearances in the Fiesta Bowl and Hall of Fame Bowl (now the Outback Bowl).
