Tennessee, like numerous others, will not throw in the towel for elite 2027 WR Kesean Bowman despite his early commitment to Oregon. The Vols are continuing to recruit the in-state standout wide receiver, and he also tells us he will be in town next weekend for Tennessee’s top-25 matchup against Georgia. We expect him to continue taking visits throughout his recruitment.
Kesean Bowman committed earlier than most expected, and he chose a school on the other side of the country — Oregon. Tennessee has not slowed their recruitment down of the in-state playmaker. The Vols are pushing hard to keep the four-star out of Brentwood (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy home. He will be in Knoxville next weekend. Bowman was at Ohio State last weekend, where the Buckeyes made a major impression, and he plans to visit Texaslater this fall. LSU is another program he’s eyeing for a visit. While Bowman remains committed to Oregon, his recruitment is far from finished, and we view Tennessee as the Ducks’ top competition.
Swords wasn't really a miss. Neither was Richard Land. Tennessee didn't pursue either.Josh Swords by far the biggest miss…
Gaulden went to Independence in Thompsons' Station with Vic Wharton.
Man, I had forgotten all about Turner. Good pull on that one.
Ramsey was never going to UT. He and his dad are...well, something.
I don’t think UT recruited Jeff Brothers. Don’t remember his brother. Definitely didn’t recruit Jeff Speedy. The Brothers in the 80's went to Vandy. Also missed on a punter and kicker I think that went to Auburn in the last 20 years.

UT did try to get Kent Austin. He was a big miss at the time, but we got Alan Cockrell instead…not a bad consolation prize.
Al Allen was going to UT, but had a car wreck and had to quit football. Ended up being a good basketball player at Belmont. He would’ve been a great football player at Tennessee. Mikki played some on the NC team in 1998.
Tito Lee probably would’ve gone to UT if he could’ve qualified. He was such a talent. Ave a tragedy.
Yeah Scott was older. Believe he played basketball at Belmont. Was a football WR. Not a D1 prospect but good high school player.Ok, this makes sense. Was there a Jeff and Scott Speedy? I guess there was only one Brothers.
Someone mentioned Austin Kemp. I'm pretty sure it was him that I talked to while he worked at a bank in Franklin about 10 years ago.
