TN vs. UCLA *Official Game Thread*

It's bad enough that we lost, now I don't even care about watching anymore football tonight.

Damned if you do damned if you don't, I thought they should have run it on the first drive on the 6, they passed and we get a field goal. I think they did the right thing running the ball. You can't run the ball all the way to the 1 and then start throwing. Its year one, when we get the players in a couple of years we will be fine. Go vols

Ps. What kind of message would it send to a future QB if the coach says I'm gonna take care of my QB and then pull him after one bad game. Come on guys

I never got on the Crompton bandwagon, even after his awesome performance against WKU, I've seen enough, even if Stephens is worse, give him a shot.

I also remember all the coaches saying they would play the guys that wanted to play and played well!!

they coul've kicked a field goal with 4 minutes and at least two timeouts left and turned it over to the Defense, played for OT. But, Kiffin thought he could all of a sudden pound the rock. Please?

Well, IF, that had worked.....it would have been SWEEEEET!

it may have, if we would have had any type of a passing threat, but we have mr mustache playing qb, he now threat of anything except for completing passes to the other guys

And if he kicks it and doesn't get the ball back you all are still on here *****ing, and they weren't all of a sudden trying to pound the rock they had pounded it all the way down the field.

after the miscue with Jones in the first half
why would jones be the go to reciever in the last possesion..

Jones hasn't practiced in a month, and he gets his number called twice in four downs, when were in a must convert situation and Jones runs the wrong routes
I have to agree. Where the hell was Teague this game? I bet you one thing, the recruits that were impressed with our Freshman last week, were wondering where they were today. We go to players who had practiced very little if any, at crunch time, instead of the Fresh who shined in their first game and had practiced all along. Spin this however you want, this falls squarely on Kiffin.

What I saw was a team that no one really knew what they could do. I saw GJones run 2 bad routes at crucial times. I saw a 4th and goal that tried to smash it up the middle on 4 consecutive play without the forethought to roll one out. On that 4th and goal, both experienced left linemen were on the bench. What I saw was bad play calling and subs when it was on the line and winnable.

I saw no reason to doubt JC too much. I thought he grew up tonight and played well all things considered with the INT's. Receivers dropped some critical passes also. D played very well and kept the game in reach. I put this on play calling for not putting the right lineup on the field nor calling the correct plays when you were 3rd and goal on the 2.

Kiffin was hamstrung with his play-calling....He was throwing the ball at first then the "real" Crompton starting rearing his God-awful head again.....Kiffin lost confidence in his QB...You could tell by the fact he was running the ball so much even when UCLA was stacking the line of scrimmage...Kiffin apparently doesn't have confidence in Stephens either or surely he would have put him in after that third INT....Crompton is a head case as well as a bad QB...I can't believe he is a starting QB in the SEC....You also have to lay alot of the blame in the laps of the offensive line....They were not giving Crompton any time in the pocket...With as bad a QB as the Vols have, you got to give him more time...Seemed like every time Hardesty or Brown got the handoff the Bruin line was already breaking the UT's O-Line...You have to give Hardesty credit....He ran the ball very hard...Every inch he gained he earned....

Play calling in the last 5 min. was terrible...god awful...kiffin lost this game by not playin for OT, plain and simple![/QUOTE]

were was the chance for a tie

I got really sick of seeing the vols in the shotgun in goalline situations at the end of the PF era so I'm glad they are trying to shove the ball down ppls throats. We just came up a little short. Go vols

we came up about 1 yard short

I always fall in love with mediocre teams
cubs, vols, titans, Illini, bears, bulls.

fell in love with vols and titans when I lived in Morristown for 9 years.

It is sad when a freshman in his first away game, makes better decisions than a fifth year SEC senior quarterback playing at home. The play calling may have been a little bit questionable but Crompton lost that game for us. I am still just a pup, but i have never seen a qb make piss poor, after piss poor, decision. 3 straight series with an interception!! The kid is not right in the head, seriously i do not think he cuts mustard in the SEC or any conference.

you obviously didnt watch crompton last season, he made plenty of piss poor decisions then too

I think this loss goes squarely on the shoulders of the OP. You must know know it's not wise to start a game thread before game day.:p
