I will be shocked if we blow USM out. Their strengths will take advantage of our weakness, and I don't think the points are going to come easy for us.

I'll stick my prior prediction of 21-17, and I wouldn't be shocked to see us lose.

I love the VOLS so much it hurts, and I have a bad feeling about this weekend.

I have no confidence in our defense's ability to stop the run, Southern Miss will pound the ball and keep it close. In the end I think (hope) we will have too much offensive firepower, but I'm expecting a close one.

I truly think that this is going to be a great game. I didn't get to see the TN-Cal matchup....and I am actually disappointed that TN lost.

I think that the loss to Cal will either help or hurt USM.

Cal loss can Help USM - If TN gets behind early, the team may lose faith that they can come back.

Cal loss can Hurt USM - TN is going to be pissed off and really but a beating on USM.

I hope that USM really does well against TN, and if they do lose, they keep it close.

I doubt any of you have seen our running back Fletcher play, but I think you will all agree after the game that the kid is very talented. He wears #25, and at times I wonder if they put Reggie Bush into the uniform.

Fletcher is going to be the key to USM winning the game. If he tears apart the TN defense, then the game is over. I can't wait to see what he does against a team like TN. He is going to be a star. He is only a sophomore. Just wait. You'll see.

While he may be good, I think the Bush comparisons are getting out of hand in CFB.

Have you seen our run defense lately? I've heard this guy is good but if he is even decent he will most likely run for about 150+

I agree with your prediction on USM's rushing success, but because the game will be shortened via so much running, I predict a lower score.

OMG. We've got Teddy giving us pep talks. The attitude on this board after 1 loss to a pretty good Cal team makes me sick. BTW nice win Teddy. We will rebound from this loss and hopefully take out our frustrations on the rest of the teams we face this year. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend the rest of the season worring about crap I have no control over. The coaches and players for 2007 are who they are. They are all Vols to me. ITS FOOTBALL TIME IN TENESSEE!!

First off you have to be insane if you think Tennessee is going to get down on themselves if trailing you early. Second, has your team ever played in Neyland stadium?

How do I know Tennessee will win this game? Simple, in the Cal game Tennessee’s D got spread out pretty bad because we have an effective passing game with a decent O-line providing protection. That en turn opened up the running lanes because Tenn was scared of the pass. In the case of USM I do not see that being an issue. I think Tenn will shut down USM completely.

I know you're excited and you want your team to win and all, but I know Tenn has way too much firepower for you. Also, Tennessee cannot lose because that would make Cal look bad! Tennessee will be singing Rocky Top in no time!:yes:

Before the season I figured this to be a relatively close game. However, with the Cal loss in mind, I think our boys are going to take their frustrations out on Southern Miss.

Teddy...a guy who was about 1 inch from being banned on here countless times (and probably was banned as his alter ego Seth) is now on here defending UT. Holy crap!!!

Anyway...thanks Teddy. I happen to agree with you on this. But it seems that some people are chalking this up as a gimme and it sure as heck isn't. If our run D doesn't appear out of the blue, clear sky then we could be in trouble

I have always heard, "you improve the most between the first and second game...". If our team comes out flat, uninspired and/or de-motivated, we will get beat, and it will be the coaches fault. I think Cal was the better team, their speed and offensive weapons made our defense look worse than it actually is, and our youth and inexperience really showed. The "whiff" tackles, there is absolutly no excuse for poor tackling, but the Cal speed had alot to do with that. USM is a decent team, but we are the Tennessee freakin' Volunteers and there will never be a reasonable excuse to lose to a USM level team. I think our coaches will have them ready mentally, and I think they know that they still have something to prove, and my prediction is that at least 1 crazy Vol fan will be screaming and yelling all night in Section D, and when it is all said and done the scoreboard will say that Tennessee took USM to the shed. Look for me on the strip knocking out a cold one prior to kickoff, Ill be the one in orange!

game will end like the Air Force game did last year with the Eagles failing to make a 2 pt conversion with seconds to go.

defense will not have improved that much, failing to stop USM on a 4th and 10 in their final scoring drive.

I think we will put 8 in the box to stop the run & let our cb's man up on their wr's. This should be enough to hold their running game in check. I think the game will be fairly close until midway in the 3rd quarter when we put it out of reach on a couple of big play td's. 38-13 VOLS!!!!!:thumbsup:

Their TE Nelson is thier top receiver and he's big enough to roll over most LBs (6-5, 240lbs).

For the guy that asked if we've ever played at TN....I guess you are too young to remember the last game we played there against Peyton. It was a loss unfortunately, but then again that team was by far better than your team this year.

I don't think Cal is as great as everyone thinks, so since you lost to them it might actually mean we have a chance against you.

USM may not have a great record against top 25 teams, especially when compared to TN's record.....but we definitely plan on winning this game. Hopefully TN is looking past us already and thinking about Florida or some other team on your schedule, so we can shock you in your house.

If USM does win this game, what will happen to Fulmer? Do you think he'll be fired? I know a lot of people predicted TN being pretty good this year. Since that remains to be seen, I figure a loss to USM would really hurt.

Then again, I think if USM beats TN, we could go undefeated for the rest of the year.....that is if we beat the hardest team on our schedule - Boise State.

Peyton left in 1997 and the Vols played S.Miss in 2000 when the VOls won by 3 points.
