Yeah after our camp here and the camp in E. TN he has blown up. For some reason coaches seem to love TEs and DBs from the NPA tree. Of course we’ve had plenty of other successesful positions but these 2 groups hv been amazing the past few years.
Gay is considered a three-star tight end by 247 Sports. He probably will be more of a mid-four-star player soon. He has offers from multiple Power Five schools, including Ole Miss and Pittsburgh. He also holds an offer from BYU. That will soon be a more crowded argument for the services of Tennessee’s 22nd-ranked player.
Gay has athleticism and mobility much more advanced than his 6-foot-7 frame would suggest. His 40-time was impressively fluid, clocked at a 4.69. He's a large target, but there is more to Gay than that. He has the ability to separate and the athleticism to be a weapon vertically. He should be a factor as a blocker once he adds a few pounds and spends a few more years in the weight room. Gay may be a monster in the making at the tight end position. I went to Boyd and I don’t think we’ve ever had a football player get a Power 5 scholarship before. The Bucs have obviously moved up in the world since I left.
