Why? Our Corners were better than our Safeties last year.

Not sure why we cannot recruit consistently at an elite level. Why are we looking for projects year 4-5? I know many dont like hard questions.

Banks is a good coach, and he can recruit better than Martinez it seems. If we value experience, pound the portal.

Safety needs to be elite.

What about the portal? Does recruiting from the portal not count as recruiting/evaluation? I guess if you want to set up false parameters, then your argument becomes self-fulfilling.

Who are the great Safeties that Banks has recruited? The trio of Gibson, McCoy, and Carter were all really good last year. Harrison also developed. Meanwhile, our Safety play was the reason we lost to Georgia and it was way behind our CB play.

I'm not knocking Banks, but some of y'all just knock WM for the sake of knocking him, facts be damned.

Wonder if he was told he will be a PWO if the scholarship limit doesn’t go up like they are planning on?

We will start to see this more and more. Group of 5 or even FCS level guys added for depth and practice bodies, and maybe they outplay their expectations a la Brooks. I don’t think any team can afford to pay 105 four and five star kids.

Comp wise he reminds me more of Luttrell than Brooks. Luttrell has carved out a role for Arizona. SEC is a different animal tho, so really anything we get from him on the field will be a bonus. But yeah these types of players on scholarship is gonna now be a thing.

Agree 100%.

No team will ever be able to fill a roster with 105 blue chippers. There is still a need for role players with upside.

Get the local/legacy kids who will stick around and develop.

There will always be ones like will brooks and desean bishop of emerge.

His mother, Sharon Thompson (née Dickie), is a former cross country and track and field standout at Tennessee who was an All-American and an SEC champion. His father, Kevin Thompson, is a former decathlete at Tennessee who also was a walk-on wide receiver for the Vols. His grandfather, Joe Thompson, also played wide receiver at Tennessee.

Luke Thompson admitted his parents are looking forward to seeing him play at their alma mater.

This guy is a good player

Ranked 92 safety in the country.
35th overall player in the state of Tennessee.

I don’t really agree with those rankings. He lined up at WR, QB, PR, and FS. Not a lot of wiggle but very good field speed. Track guy. Parents track t stars of course.

He hits you tho. That’s what I like.
