'26 TN S Joel Wyatt (Tennessee commit)

6’4” 215 running a 4.4 and being able to cover slot WRs.

Maybe he plays STAR??

“As for Wyatt, it might not be all over. In fact, for any of these commits, it mignt not be all over. What happens, for instance, if Vandy improves on its 7-6 season from last year, and Heupel is on the hot seat by November?”
Hahahahahahaha.

A year after making the CFP, Heupel is gonna be on the hot seat by November, guys. Vandy is gonna come swooping in to steal our recruits.

Idk about all that being able to cover. He's big and athletic, and his strength when I saw him in 7on7 at Rivals Five-Star, was lurking as a safety. They let him play all over and was getting beat bad at corner even by another DB

he's a true 10.7

with speed training at UT he's 10.6

with the weight gain he will undergo he's back at 10.7

that's still crazy fast on the backend

At 6'4 205-210..

Exciting measureables. Exciting recruit and commitment.

Can he flip his hips and run? Is he fluid?

Taylor Mays was a physical specimen at Saftey going 6’3” 220 - was stiff as a board.

*the question is somewhat rhetorical, just say “yes” and I will believe

He can't flip his hips like a corner and shouldn't be expected to at that size, but they're perfectly fine for a safety or linebacker

Exceptional athlete. He has the measurables to compare to any 5*

Will be interesting to see how he develops this year. How he plays and how much he grows. Got LB written all over him.

We are absolutely loaded at LB for the near future. The star position is versatile spot. Banks can switch up the defense to accommodate the strengths of who he puts out there, allowing them to use a slower corner, cover safety, S/LB hybrid, etc. They mostly have to be able to cover ground and be a sure tackler.

He is going to enter college at 210lb.

I have spoken to coaches at Oakland. He is ALREADY 205-210. He will enter college closer to 215 most likely. I was told once is has a nutrition center and college weight program that he will add 20lbs very quickly. They used the terms explosive and physical.

Also, shhhhhhh but.....
Their best guess was also that he eventually ends up as an elite EDGE in college.

It really depends on which way they choose to go nutritionally. How big can he get and maintain 4.4 type speed? Also, where he decides to buy in and how early? Best case scenario is a Jevon Kearse 2.0, or better yet, Isaiah Simmons at Clemson. Right now we're looking at a James Williams (that played at Miami, currently with the Titans) type athlete. He entered college roughly the same size that Wyatt is now, but stayed at safety his entire college career. He was a liability in pass coverage, and was never going to be an NFL safety.

Jevon Kearse actually had a son that played at Clemson that was a 6’4 safety too. Very easily could be what Wyatt does. I think making him gain 50 pounds and play Leo is out the window though. Apparently that was one of the things that made him hesitate about coming here. So I imagine they will play him at safety. Or potentially WR if he has a good senior season at that spot and we miss on Keys. With an athlete like him and the lack of established guys in that room (currently projected to next season) they have to at least try it if he’s enrolled during bowl practice

Everyone is shooting for these reasonable comps. The unreasonable yet ideal comp is Kyle Hamilton. Dude is one of the biggest X factors in the NFL.

At absolutely worst he will have great size and speed for special teams as a freshman. Who knows if he finds a full time home at Saftey as a freshman or if he has to pivo and gain weight.

Not trying to be an ass but Jayron Kearse is not Jevon's son

He’s a defender. Period.

He won’t gain 50 lbs until he’s already retired from football.

He also said, that he will play wherever the coaches think is best. Heupel will give him a shot at D, but the kid is already skilled as an EDGE.

He just needs to come to the realization on his own.

Interestingly, Jevon Kearse signed with Florida as a Safety.
