VQ War RoomOn Tuesday, safety Jarrell Chandler made his way back over to campus and he got a lot of face time with Jim Knowles and Anthony Poindexter. Chandler left impressed by the Vols’ approach with him. This is a Tennessee and Clemson battle right now with other programs looking to make a move this spring. But Tennessee has continued to do a nice job here and we feel like the team best positioned to land Chandler.
-VQ War RoomHalls safety Jarrell Chandler came over for the scrimmage on Thursday and plans on being back on campus next week. That is a Tennessee and Clemson battle with Tennessee having the edge in our opinion at this time.
-VQ War RoomHalls safety Jarrell Chandler was back over again earlier this week. It doesn’t feel like he’s going to do anything anytime soon. He is hearing a lot from Texas A&M and there’s a strong push from Miami, so it will be interesting to see if where both those schools stand in terms of visits. Tennessee and Clemson continue to be the top two teams there.
As a Halls alumni, I'd love to see the kid at Tennessee, but it does seem like we are in on a lot of big safeties like the Poole kid out of Georgia. We already have one committed, too. Not sure how many we'd look to take. Omarii Sanders is another if we can swing him from Vandy. That was the implication. The AP quote is the only info I’d put much stock in.
If someone could pose the question to someone in the know, I would love to know a) how many safeties the staff wants to take (I assume a few with Knowles safety heavy scheme) and b) how would they be ranked on the board between chandler/simon/poole/sanders/geathers/leavell/???As a Halls alumni, I'd love to see the kid at Tennessee, but it does seem like we are in on a lot of big safeties like the Poole kid out of Georgia. Simon has already shifted to LB and will go to college as a LB. Chandler is a safety. Not sure why they would affect each otherWas mentioned by Boogie Bentley that AP said "trending away from Vols" on the VQ Monday chat.
I really want Jarrell here, but it’s April. Who knows. Fans in Boogie’s chat were speculating that he’s looking around because we already have a S-turning-LB, local kid who is a silent.
Jarrell is a big kid who could easily transition to Will. It was also said we want both players and are recruiting Jarrell as a "ball player". As I said, the AP quote is the only solid info, the rest was fan yap.Simon has already shifted to LB and will go to college as a LB. Chandler is a safety. Not sure why they would affect each other
He’s like 6’3 212 with 4.4 speed. There’s no reason to pigeon-hole him before he even gets here.I watched him all year. He stands out on both sides of the ball.
Educated guess but I’d say between the scheme playing more of them + the clear need for a talent upgrade I expect to recruit a bunch of them and see who hits.If someone could pose the question to someone in the know, I would love to know a) how many safeties the staff wants to take (I assume a few with Knowles safety heavy scheme) and b) how would they be ranked on the board between chandler/simon/poole/sanders/geathers/leavell/???
Noting white/haley/hadley are other tall db prospects we’re in on, though think they are cornerbacks.
Maybe it will be different with this defensive staff but in the past it’s been hard to tell where they project who to play.
