'27 TN RB David Georges

It would be a failure, but I'd put the blame on De'Rail Sims. He's the RB coach. His job is to coach and recruit RBs. DGG is our top priority. If we miss, it's on him. Should he be fired? No idea. Depends on who he does bring in and how they do. But to have an in-state talent like DGG and miss is a failure, no matter how you look at it.
You really believe it's still about relationships in this NIL era, that's cute..

No it wouldn’t be a failure. We are no recruiting against the best of the best. Teams who win at an extremely high rate and are willing to spend whatever it takes. Oh and also the kid may just like everything about OSU better. That’s not our fault. That’s not Sims fault. That’s just recruiting.

If we do miss on DGG there really is only two scenarios that will constitute a failure. If this recruitment goes down to the wire and we are right there and learn that OSU drops a bigger bag at the last minute then I will say it’s a failure.

Or if we were to lose him to some other crap team like Vandy, NC State or something like that. Then it’s a failure. Losing a recruit this talented to a team like OSU is not really a failure.

The failure will be more of 3 years of not landing a top end back out of high school. DGG would be more of the nail in the coffin for me. We have not recruited running back well since Heupel has been here, even though the system allows for success at the position. You would think by now we could at least land one kid out of high school in the top 100.

A lot of people on this board grew up TN fans, and most remember our heyday. TN has been virtually irrelevant on the national landscape for 20+ years. Yes TN is a recognizable brand, but that don't get recruits in this day and age. CJH has always done more with less. The one time when he went big, Nico, that blew up in his face.

Our heyday also included landing the best running backs. My main point is that we have a system begging for an elite back, and we have yet to land him. Sims has been here for 3 years. Over that time we have lead the SEC in rushing without an elite back, and haven't developed an elite back either. Imagine what the offense could be if we had an elite back that a defense had to scheme for as well. Maybe this is his year, like last year was for Pope. At least Sims can teach pass blocking, because Pruitt's staff could not. It is way past time to start assessing what we have with the current staff. This position and the secondary have still been an issue as far as recruiting goes. We addressed the defense last cycle with a coaching change. If Sims can't get it done on the recruiting trail this year, we won't have to worry about getting to the next level if we don't assess his performance.

No problem, if the demanding fans back up their mouth with their wallet we can assess the Coach. If not….. not so much if big check wins and it is not ours.

Anybody have direct input on his desire to continue his southern experiment vs getting closer to home for 3 years? Cost and time analysis on transportation Knoxville vs Columbus?

To that, my season tickets have doubled since White got here. I am also paying tuition for 3 as of this fall when are youngest enrolls. We have 1 huge Orange Bowl win that we were underdogs in, and two Bama home wins under Heupel. I personally think we are a few tweaks away from being elite. We may have made enough changes last season to accomplish that. Definitely think Heupel will be long term here now after seeing him make staff changes. I don't see why I can't wish for a RB coach that recruits elite as well?

I don't think it's an unreasonable ask given the cost to even go to a game. White has made this about money, without the results, while losing the best coach on campus that he did not hire. I am not a White fan personally. Many are. In truth, I know that he is doing the same thing as every other elite program. I dropped my basketball season tickets after they doubled in 3 years. Thankfully I saw Zeiglers whole career, and the Knecht year.
