'27 TN RB David Georges

Cool...I graduated in '92 (his junior year). I had 4 TDs against you guys, but yall smoked us. Fred had 3TDs that game and David Quartey(sp?) had another 3 against us. Those boys could run. They smoked me when track season rolled around too! šŸ˜„
Oh yeah?
Who was I playing for? šŸ˜…

I always go back to Jamal. Obviously before your time lol. I was in the end zone upper deck for the Texas Tech game his freshman year. I don’t remember if it was the first game but it was early season. Pretty sure Mark Levine started and I think Shawn Bryson maybe played but I could be misremembering that. Anyway, when Jamal came into the game it was obvious he was the guy. I was like whoa. Those ā€œdudesā€ are obvious
Sadly, Fulmer didn't recognize it until after the Florida game that year. Still pisses me off.

Yes! He had all summer to get him ready. Fulmer kept talking about getting him to learn the blocking scheme better. Phil played it to safe and didn’t start him against Florida. He did play some once we got behind at UF but we were in passing mode by then. Then the next week he starts Lewis and the rest is history. That late super cautious move with not starting Lewis and then the asinine squib kick at home against Georgia after Travis Stephen’s had made a legendary run are the top 2 worst decisions Fulmer ever made. I still get mad thinking about Lewis not starting against Florida and especially that weak squib kick call. The house was rocking and Phil played scardy cat football. No way they go 80 yards in a minute. But heck we give them the ball nearly at midfield. He let the fans down that day with that call. GBO

It was crazy how Jamal magically learned pass pro the very next week after Florida! šŸ™„

A lot of Fulmer’s losses were a result of him being way too conservative in the biggest games. The bigger the game, the safer he would try to play it. It was a frustrating way to lose.

Yep. He tightened up in those games, but especially against Florida. Heupel embraces those games. He’d only play big games if he had his way. QB mentality.

I still get angry thinking about it. Especially with Phil saying at the start of fall camp we got to get Jamal to pick up the blocking scheme. And like you said magically after Florida he turns him loose. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I hope we land Hiter and haven’t given up on him yet. But either way I think this is the guy we turn to in the 27 class. I see no reason to go into the portal for a running back unless somebody exceptional enters which I doubt. I think we will go after Georges hard regardless, hopeful we land Hiter tomorrow. I still feel like we have a good shot, I don’t think anyone knows. GBO

lol. It’s always funny to see people say do not let him leave the state. We can’t make him stay if he really doesn’t want to.
Not sure how relative that is for a visiting Canadian at a boarding school. Lots of opportunities closer and probably more accessible to his home.

Hope he has enjoyed his stay and sees lots of classy ORANGE in the stands every game on both sides of the field.

Will be interesting to follow Hiter’s and his production this year. Be wild if he could reclassify.

That and the fact he’s a Canadian boardering at Baylor so he’s never been in state to stop from leaving. Still hope he joins his teammates at TN!
