So, Heupel should have started Hooker over Milton after fall practice ended, even though Milton drastically outperformed Hooker in practice, because you can't make these decisions based on practice, and he should instead have made that decision based on their performance in actual games, which had not been played yet. Do I have that right?

Wtf are you even talking about.

I made the comparison that Brandon is like Brandon Stewart and Curtis is like Manning (in my eyes right now). Curtis doesn’t have all the physical strengths as Faizon but processes and sees the field really fast and well.

The same parallel is with Milton and Hooker.

Again, please tell me where I said that CJH should have started Hooker over Milton? I have no clue what your argument is.

You said, "He started Milton over Hooker at one point. Hooker was better at reading a defense and making decisions. Milton is a freak athlete who could throw the ball “over those mountains.” as evidence of "what Heupel likes" in a QB. That sounds like he is choosing a QB based on style he prefers rather than simply who is better.

He started Milton because he thought he was the best QB, based on fall practice performance. Hooker was allegedly terrible. I know he looked terrible in the spring game and was thought to be behind Harrison Bailey and one other QB I can't remember.

I get what you're saying but I wouldn't necessarily say those are accurate comparisons. Brandon can also see the field and read defenses really well.

Brandon picks apart defenses with precision. The Tennessee commit threw for more than 2,100 yards, 27 touchdowns and had just one interception as a junior. The 6-4 quarterback shows strong pocket presence on film and delivers an excellent deep ball. Brandon processes defenses and reads the entire field quickly, especially on broken plays, which helps him limit turnovers. His decision-making and ability to push the ball downfield make him a strong fit for Josh Heupel’s offense. – Billy Tucker, ESPN

I think that people who disagree with you are mirrors. I think going back and forth with someone is just arguing with yourself. Might sound pretty far out there but that's how I feel. Just seems like a waste of time. Would rather spread love.

Joe Milton was faster and more athletic than Hendon Hooker, with a stronger arm.

Nico Iamaleave is faster and more athletic than Joey, with a stronger arm.

We simply won't know until these guys are playing in college which pick was the right one, and in many cases it takes more than a year to see a player's true potential to show.

I wonder not only about Brandon vs. Curtis, but a little about GMac vs. Boley as well.

No, my point was that there have been zero recent NFL caliber QB's, certainly none under this staff. That isn't a ridiculous point at all, it's the demonstrable truth.

Lea won't/wouldn't have anything to do with offensive production save hiring an OC and that OC bringing his QB with him.

And that all time best QB Lea is indirectly responsible for isn't even a serious NFL prospect. That's reason for any smart player with hopes of NFL futures at QB to consider.

By all accounts, Tennessee believes Brandon has more untapped potential and upside. Curtis is great, but is almost a year older than his competition while Brandon is nearly a year younger.

Brandon just turned 17 in June. Curtis will be 19 in December, I believe.

Didn't really remember much about this kids recruitment. Looking back over from the beginning two things stand out to me.

1) Was mentioned over and over again how much more developed this kid was at a younger age than Tennessee committee already on roster and other kids in his class.

(That isn't always a bad thing or a good thing, but how many times have really superiorly developed young players fizzle in talent when others catch up to them physically)

2) This staff valued Faizon at the position and prioritized him. If that's the case it explains why this kid didn't place himself on the front burner for us.

Curtis also plays in a league of 5’10 white kids.

I hear you but you missed my later message that referenced Brandon reading and processing defenses. Milton nor Nico really possessed that ability to that degree.

I don't know what Curtis ultimately does but I don't think Vandy had much of a chance before the start of the season but a couple of things has happened since this: 1) this season has shown Vandy can be successful on the field and 2) Pavia is a Rockstar even if he doesn't have an NFL future. He is a favorite on GameDay. He's showing up in Kid Rock commercials. He's made it seem cool though I think he gets away with running his mouth.

I was recently at a customer's house who has connections around town. I didn't the guy would have much to say about college football because how his business keeps him busy with the public. We got to talking about football and he mentioned there's talk Vandy may get this star QB.

I keep up with the high school football season games on that board and the teams Curtis has elevated Nashville Christian to beat is very surprising Tyner and Ensworth. They must also have some other players because their defense shuts down teams too at their classification. They could easily win in a blowout against USJ in the title game - at least on paper.

I think Brock is a good and insightful comparator, though I also think Curtis is a slightly different player. ($9.99, pls). And there is no question that Brandon is playing much better competition week in, week out.

5-stars are as sure a thing as there is in CFB, but that doesn’t mean they’re a sure thing. JA wasn’t recruited; Nico reset the NIL market because he was going to be so good. All players—and especially QBs—have to keep getting better or they won’t be good enough.

For all that, I would love to see Curtis in Athens.

I mean, would I rather vandy NOT land a 5 star QB? Sure.

But does this make me afraid of Vandy going forward? No. This is an anomaly. He's a nashville kid who Tennesseee never prioritized because we preferred Fazion over him. He may turn out to be great, but the bust rate is pretty high these days with 5 star guys.

Vandy is electric now because Pavia has a unique skill set and what can only be referred to as moxie. Not all QB's have that.

Curtis wants to play as a true freshman which and most portal QB's are going to shy away from going to Vandy knowing they have Curtis waiting in the wings.

On the one hand, you could argue this move hurts Vandys momentum in the future. Now, this is in no way me advocating for them to NOT sign a 5 star QB. I'm just saying, they're having the year they're having because they have a senior laden team with a uniquely effective veteran QB whos' been int he same offense since 2009, give or take. 98% of true freshman QB's struggle. So in 2026, you'll be bringing in a freshman to play Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, AT Florida, AT Georgia, plus NC State, Arkansas, miss state, and at kensucky.

Gonna be hard to continue the momentum of a 10-2 season if you follow it up with 7-5 or worse.
