'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

Good luck, Cade. Please don’t go to UGA lol

Seemed to be a lock to Clemson......

2 different sources saying different two different destinations, but agree on one thing. Family is split, which side wins? Momma or dad/son?

And contrary to what some have said, don’t expect Cade to disrespect TN in anyway on Wednesday, he still loves TN. I’ll let others discuss how bad Pruitt handled the meeting with Cade, plenty of sites with the scoop on that one.

Can someone just spill the beans on what happened with Cade and Pruitt?? Is it something we should worry about happening with other recruits? Or is this a specific issue just between he and Cade?

I'm your Huckleberry, enquiring minds want to know.

Since I believe Phil was there ... how badly could it have gone with Coach P Fulmer working the room?

Sorry but I'm not buying what you're selling. The "Pruitt was rude during the meeting" story looks too much like spin from the Mays/Catholic HS camp. They are trying to lighten the backlash of him going somewhere else with a little deflection. The sites discussing this are either Clemson or Georgia, so their agenda is apparent. And Cade "liked" the tweet from Adrian Martinez about committing to Nebraska, so it's a little late to say he won't be disrespecting Tennessee. He already has.

Look up posts from tnvol72, he posted the gist of the story. Fulmer wasn’t pleased. I’ll just add Cade and his family are very religious and like I said when Pruitt was hired, he’s a vulgar redneck from Alabama. You have to recruit the room, have to be aware of the clients’ do’s and dont’s.

Maybe he was rude cuz he isn't playing games and doesn't like wasting his time

Exactly, thought the same thing. Either you coming or we leaving without you. The ju-co lineman we bought in this weekend had no issue coming to build rapport with the new staff. So why not him?

Bull $hit to all of this.

Kid already has disrespected UT, big time. And not buying the Pruitt rumor, makes zero sense. The kid has had his mind made up for awhile now that he’s not coming to Tennessee no matter what. Couldn’t care less either way, I’m concerned about the kids who do want to be Vols and Cade ain’t one of them.

If Cade didn’t have a brother who is also a Vol legacy, I might agree. Do I think Pruitt say some things he shouldn’t? ABSOLUTELY, spend 10 min with him and you will see. Doesn’t mean he is any less of a coach tho, not coaching the choir.

So it's ok for Cade to be potty mouthed while playing for Catholic, but bad for Pruitt. Cool.

Yes, he does need to tailor the pitch, but that's kinda weak and sounds an awful lot like somebody is trying to justify their previously made decision.

“Vulgar red neck” my arse. He’s proven himself for years to be one of the very best recruiters in all of college football, but now, all of a sudden he’s purposely going into a home with no self awareness and insulting the mom and dad of a 5 star legacy recruit with his HOF boss in the room? Sorry, ain’t buying.

Well, other sites I can’t link...say more. I’m not buying all that some have said but thinking he said some inappropriate things. Spend time around him, then we will have this convo.

Like I said, the story is out there, true or not. It’s on here, more in depth elsewhere. Also why I said others can give or deny credence. Personally, my view is he was hurt because he was friends with Butch’s kids, just my opinion, nothing more. Not buying the playing for championships either, TN could be in ATL in two years, don’t see it next year.

So the coach recruits like crazy at Florida state, Georgia, and Alabama but when he gets to UT he is a redneck? Don’t believe that for a second. Will not get up set about what a 17-18 year old kid will do. His life, his lessons to learn. Good luck Cade.

You're telling me this is the first religious family he has recruited? BS, you can't tell me they're any more religious than say a grandmother raising a child

Also if he was such a problem as a recruiter then how does he earn the recuiter of the year in 2013?

This seems like a made up story

Someone asked for more info. I gave cliffs. Don’t want to believe it? No biggie. Do I? Not sure, but I Can see it. But there is plenty of websites where this story lies, not just this one. Whether you do or not doesn’t change what did or did not happen nor does it change who he picks Wednesday.

Only thing I was adding was, he isn’t a lock to Clemson as previously thought including myself. :hi:

Oh no - I really really hope he doesn’t end up at Georgia.

Ok so we have a recruit who backed out of a commitment who appeared to be a long shot to recommit and a new head coach who has recruited top level talent at all of his jobs. Suddenly the coach goes flips out on said recruit and his family on his visit which could potentially hurt future recruiting efforts and the family is appalled at his actions. Yep seems legit to me.

Edit:close thread
