'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

Recruits are just not that excited about UT right now. They've heard "We're back" for a decade and they're no longer buying it. The team just had the worst year in UT history, on the heels of a late season collapse last year. We're rebuilding... again... with the fourth new coach in ten years. A lot of recruits don't want to be part of that.

Ton of negative speculation here. I think you’re, understandably, projecting your own thoughts about our program onto prospective recruits. I get it, on one level don’t much blame you, at all.

However, put yourself into the mindset of those recruits, especially the ones who already have a relationship with CJP or one of his staff....guys who can really sell their history of success, the opportunity to play in their system, in Neyland stadium, on our campus, with our outstanding facilities. Then throw in early playing time. It’s actually an exciting time for a recruit to look at and consider coming to Tennessee imho.

These recruits were not even 10 years old a decade ago. Recruits care about right now, not 5 years ago. And right now, Pruitt and Co. are hot names and are great recruiters.

Clemson is not putting offensive linemen into the NFL.

That's a good point. They've only had one OL drafted in 15 years.

Shows that you don't need top rated Olinemen to succeed. I've said that for years. Skill positions are much more relevant to ranking.

I'd still point that out to Cade. UT needs immediate Oline help.
I dont see how starting with Trey Smith wouldn't have him thinking They could turn this around fast.

What Cade needs to think about is his whole future not just the NFL.

If he comes to TN and blows out a knee a year or so from now and never makes the NFL. He’s still a Vol legacy and the Alumni networks will help him. He will get job offers and business opportunities he wouldn’t get from any other fan base.

If he goes to another school and that happens he’s closed the door on allot of connections here. If he moves home and he rejected the Vols do you think it would be as easy on him?

If he goes to Clemson or Georgia and gets hurt this year and his career is over. Do you think he will have the connections with their alumni he would have here? He’s just another guy who played a few games there, his name means nothing to them.

At TN no matter how your career ends up you’re still a Mays and will be loved by Volnation.

He would be fine in any scenario.

I'm fairly certain you can find these "connections" at a number of institutions. Tennessee is not the only school that can provide those opportunities...

Yes if he turns out to be a good player for them. I’m talking about if he gets hurt early or just doesn’t work out. It happens every day. Anytime walking onto the field might be your last.

Says a lot about a kid’s character when he would choose a school with no affiliation over a school his father played at and he grew up loving. It is the easy way out. It would be way harder to come here and build this team up. That is what a true Volunteer and man of integrity and honor would do. Go Vols!! Home sweet home....always be.

It says a lot about your character to come on an anonymous message board and criticize a high school kid for choosing a school that he wants to attend, that you don't agree with.

IDK about Georgia but I do know Clemson helps many of it's graduates find jobs

Local and in-state recruits train together... and the top ones camp, compete and play in all star games together. A lot of them train and are coached by former UT players and personnel. I generally find it more productive to ask than to speculate, so that's what I do. It's not a popular thing on VN.

Let’s see what happens with the next 2-3 recruiting classes....that’ll give us our answer. I’m willing to bet they’ll be pretty good, top 10-15 this year, top 5-10 going forward.

If in his heart he does not want to come to TN, then so be it. Maybe he does want to blaze his own trail wherever it takes him, and never look back, and was never really much a Tennessee fan Or does he want to be a Tennessee Volunteer. If he truly is a Vol Fan at heart, he will one day regret going anywhere else. Clemson is the flavor of the Day. Tennessee, if you're from here, is not. Its always there

What I have been trying to say all along. Enjoy living in South Carolina the rest of your life if you go there.

Well, I guess that we should send Kivon Bennett packing because he is not a man of integrity because he did not go to Bama. Your post is about as bad as any I have seen on here. That's saying something. You should not question anyone's character based upon where they go to school. Good grief.
