'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

O Linemen being early enrollees serves no purpose imo. Even the Bucks need a year in a P5 weight room. They would be better served to wait and sign in February, redshirt the next fall and be ready to play with guys their own size and strength. Trey Smith and a few others notwithstanding, most freshmen linemen are not SEC ready. Get Fulmer in the house. Dad surely remembers toiling along on the D Line for a year or so and getting his PT on the O line his junior and senior year.

Thats ass backwards. That’s why being an EE is what you want for your lineman. That extra few months is huge for their development.

Is the reason he longer wants to come here because we fired Jones or is it another reason?

That is probably part of it (... players get close to the coaches that recruit them .... ) but I believe there were other factors. I truly believe he saw potential with the players at UT and the recruits coming in of a big year in 2018. He was always pumped. That changed after the UGA game. That is game where fans literally booed the team. It was a vary bad look.

With the firing of Jones and the class of 2018 blowing up that potential went away. Giving how his high school has performed the last couple of years (... state champs with multiple losses ....) I don't think the losses this year were as much a factor as folks think. He knows first hand that teams can rebound.

I could be wrong but I doubt the new coaches have enough time to change his mind. It doesn't seem like Bama recruited him - so not sure how much of a relationship he has with Pruitt. Given that OSU is in his to 3, UT may have had a better chance if Schanio thing had not blown up.

Regardless Tennessee will survive without him. He is only 1 player - it takes 11.

Nobody booed the team/players man. They were booing CBJ. Players have always had support of the fans. It's not their fault the coaches sucked and didn't know how to develop them.

It's like you start dating this good looking girl. After a while she puts on some weight and stops wearing makeup because she comfortable with you. Being young andvinto the hot new item you break up with her. After flirting for a bit you notice a smoking hot girl in the corner. You walk a little bit closer and notice it's your ex. She decided to hit the gym and lose the extra baggage and it worked magnificently in her favor. So the choice as the young lad now is do you go back to your once again hot looking ex or keep flirting with crowd?

Tennessee's the girl you bring home to your parents. The others may look like a "good time," but you'll end up with an std. Zero percent chance he regrets going to Tennessee. The same can't be said about the others.

He'll play in the league regardless. Difference is whether he wants to possibly be handed a championship somewhere else, or work to earn one here.

I'm over cade Mays. If he comes here, great. If he goes somewhere else, enjoy. You better like the area because if you want to come home some day, it won't be the same. Ask Leroy Thompson. Does he seem like a great player? Sure, but there are other great players and I'll choose to celebrate the ones that put on the pantone 151.

Agreed. I think he goes to Clemson. If he goes to UG he will be more hated than the kid that took out Tuttle's knees.

A player can add muscle mass by EE but he cannot change the time table of human development. At about 18, the end plates of the long bones that make us taller are still closing and may be a source of injury. That is one good reason to redshirt. Of course there's all the other bodily changes that occur during that period of time at the end of puberty.

tl;dr How long it takes is different for everyone til they're a grown ass man and having a grown ass man bust yo ass when your not can get you injured.

IDK, he seemed to have a pretty good relationship with the Jones family - he played with Jones' son at Catholic. I'm assuming they're friends. I can see how some of the Tennessee shine maybe wore off after the season took a nose dive, all the Butch allegations, etc.

Also, Clemson is going to playoffs on the yearly, so he's pretty much guaranteed an appearance at least once in the next 3-4 years if he goes there.

FWIW, i think UT can compete for SEC East in the next 2-3 yrs if, among other priorities, we get some decent QB play. Hopefully, Cade can see that, and he's open-minded enough at this point to listen to the pitch from Pruitt and Phil.

Two things:

1) he's played with Butch's kids for the last 4 years, probably got close to the family and now he's feeling hurt. He's a 17-18 year old kid going through a significant life event. Don't mistake physical maturity for mental maturity and wisdom.

2) This is his last chance for the probably the next 6-8 years to pick his team. Once he finishes college (whether he stays all 4 years or leaves early), he doesn't get a say in who he plays for next. He could get drafted by anyone. If he is a 5-star and develops like a 5-star should at a major program, he might be a top 10 pick, which means he's most likely going to a team that is not very good. Then spend 3-4 years on an entry level contract and he might be able to change teams in free agency, but not if they use a franchise tag or some other exception. Or he could get "lucky" and fall down the draft as a late first rounder to a team like NE, GB, SEA, etc. But that would be an expensive drop.

Agree. Move on to someone who wants to be here.

Remember when posters were saying that the Mays family were giving Currie an ultimatum to fire Butch or else?

I member.

Edit: for the record, that notion is complete hogwash. Pretty evident now.

Price sounds sassy

I've said it already but I think he's so adamant that it's a huge uphill climb right now because he knows Cade is a silent commit to Clemson. Remember VQ mods knew he had decommitted from UT weeks before he went public with it.

I still believe in Fulmer and CJP are going to get in home and give it their all but it's going to have to be the best recruiting pitch of their lives. Just not much time to flip him back and he's clearly sold on Dabo and Clemson, IMO.

Sucks but oh well. Focus on the ones we have, right?

The Clemson Knox Catholic connection needs to end.
