'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

He has also been close enough to see the negativity in the fan base ... EmptyNeyland, boos directed towards the players and the bad side of this fan base.

He is probably also smart enough to know that if expectations are met starting next year - it will all start again.

Maybe he wants to go to a school where the atmosphere does not turn toxic at the first sign of failure.

You mean the last 10 years of failure and under achieving? The administration being an epic failure with non stop infighting and running the program into the ground? Please explain "first sign".

goes back further than that. pretty sure Majors labeled us the Legion of the Miserable.

Well the EmptyNeyland attempt clearly failed so he oughta know that it came from only a significant minority of poisonous yet loud fans. I don’t think it had that much of an effect on him

It happens to all fan bases that have passion. I was unfortunate enough to live in Alabama when they had their 10 years of misery before they hired Saban. You had folks calling into radio stations cussing players and coaches, saying they were throwing all their gear away and would never pull for Bammer again. I promise you they are all pulling for them now. Bammer is just lucky social media was in its infancy then. I'm sure the recruits realize half the people talking crap aren't even UT fans. I hope Cade stays and plays for UT lord knows we need him. He could make a name for himself. If not, good luck to him wherever he goes.

Let's see Clemson, Georgia, OSU, or any other team on his list go 4-8 and see how their fans react. Historic teams and expectations. They go hand in hand. Trust me Cade is a smart young man with a great family. He fully understands this.

I think it's because Bammer fans aren't very bright? Amirite?

You have to take the good with the bad with any fanbase. No fanbase would have supported their team like Tennessee fans have the last 10 years despite poor results. The alternative is fan apathy.

Agreed. Pretty sure thousands of fans supporting their losing team in a monsoon shows that this fan base is as passionate as it gets.

Hey Cade. Clemson fans booed the hell out of their team and wanted Dabo fired a few years back. Luckily their fans are idiots and their AD is smart. Georgia fans booed Richt and cost a hall of fame coach his job. Worked out ok for them so far. Luckily UT fans were smarter than their AD, got his azz fired and finally have two men left in charge that can change our course of history.

You want in? Great! If not, just be another front runner. Spurning your childhood team that finally made the right choices seems foolish but what the hell do I know?

He’s been to UT hundreds of times. He doesn’t need to visit another weekend. Coaches need to go to his house during the week and convince him to be a Vol.

If I was Cade, if I had any interest in Tennessee, no way I sign in the early signing period. If he wants to go to Clemson or Georgia he can just enroll. If either tell me to sign or risk losing my spot, I mark them off my list.

I was told today that he has some kind of bad history with Pruitt and there’s no way he’s going to TN. Hope that’s wrong

Clear your head, ain’t no coach gonna tell Cade he risks losing his spot. lol

Go back and read it real slow, you. Notice the word "if" and where it's placed. Bounce the sentence off some other people if you need to. Try and comprehend how the word "if" is used there. Lol.

He could probably give the tour of TN instead of being led around. There is nothing at TN he needs to see. He loves UT, the coaches? We will see...

Maybe so. The program will go on with or without Mays. Although, if there is one person who could smooth a bad history over with this family and CJP, I'd bet it's Phil Fulmer.

Some of you guys realize that us getting Cade makes a big difference for our offense, right? We’re not just strolling anyone else out there with his level of talent.
