TN @ Missouri "Wow we're actually not bad" Post Game Report

I wonder how long this temporary love fest with Tyndall is going to last? I think he is a great coach but we are getting ready to get into the meat of our schedule and VOLS fans have short memories. If we are 5-5 over these next ten games I will be surprised.

I was surprised when we beat Arkansas. (They showed again last night that they can't handle the zone and press on the same day even at home.)
May need 6 and 4 over the next 10 to think about dancing.
After Arky, I just don't know.

Speaking of Cuonzo Martin, his California team is 1 and 6 in last 7

And one of those loses was Cal St Bakerfield.

He got the Seth Davis twitter curse. After that win against #21 Washington he shot out a tweet saying, "good win for Cuonzo, just making sure you know Knoxville."

Also UT current RPI is 53 with a 59 SOS, while Cuonzo's Cal RPI is 112 with a 81 SOS.

I know we had a really nice tourney run last year, but for me it wasn't enough to overcome the pain of watching that team underachieving in the regular season. I'm really enjoying the effort of CDT's team so far.

Armani and Reese are a really solid tandem, If Willie could give us anything but fouls it would help immensely down low.

Glad Punter got his stroke back, and he's been solid defensively. But on offense he makes me nervous, I find myself thinking "what are you doing?" about 3 times a game.

You know those lights that when you turn them on they slowly light up? That's Hubbs, you can see slowly but surely its starting to click. He didn't score much but played well and was aggressive. Weird analogy I know.

I'd like to see us run a few plays a game to get DB open looks. He has a nice stroke from 3, but isn't really the type of player that's just going to jack up a contested 3.

Thank ya Jerry,I think it's a nice stroke to :)

Here's my bold prediction:

This team wins 20 and makes the tournament.

We will have to win a couple in the SEC tourney to get to 20 imo.

To do that in the regular season we will have to win all of our home games excluding KY. Beat Vandy at Vandy - which is extremely tough to do for a first year coach and a ton of players that has never played there before. Beat SC at SC this week. And steal one more on the road at either GA, LSU, Ole Miss, Ark, or FL. It will be somewhat of a "miracle run" for this team....IMO

I think we can steal two of those on the road, 3 if you include the SC squad that just lost to Auburn. Which means we could afford to get swept by both UK and FL. But we may win 1 of 2 against Florida.

Auburn is a getting better. They finally got just about everyone healthy. Don't count them as an automatic W. Pearl wants the TN game more than any other team on his schedule. His team will be ready to play.

We only play FL and KY once each.

They lost by 20 to Florida Thursday. They're better but still not very good. We should beat them at TBA. Plus I'm pretty sure Tyndall wants to beat Pearl pretty badly too.

Someone should tweet him back and ask how Knoxville should feel now that he is 1-6 in his last 7.

From the Cal boards, sound familiar?

Someone please explain Cal BB right now
I have played BB all my life until I could not anymore. I have watched all the college and HS BB I could stand for years. I go back to the 1959 team that went to the finals two years running. I have loved it when we won, grimaced when we lost. But for the life of me I do not know what is going on right now. We started well, and then Bird got injured. But more than that is going on. Against WSU, USC, and now UCLA this team is one of the worst teams I have ever seen at Cal. And not knowing who calls what shots I have no idea who the blame lives with. Are Singer and Moute a Bidas told absolutely not to shoot by Cuonzo? If so, it is on him. You cannot play BB three against five unless those three are all world, which ours are not. Is Singer (for whom I asked patience just recently) just not the BB player he was in Florida. He will not take a shot. God I feel sorry for Matthews, Kravish (who is disappointing, but trying), and Wallace. It is just a joke when they bring the ball downcourt against UCLA. Pass around to find what? it is also a joke on the inside, but I do not think we can help that, but with time.

This has become a total reversal to very cr*ppy BB. What worries me is that if I were Rabb, Swanigan, or any of the other recruits why in the heck would I want to come to Cal to rescue Cuonzo's dead horse? Why not any offer from any of the top teams. Four games ago I would not have even thought that let alone say it. And yes, I called for patience after the WSU game, but folks this is, in fact, getting ridiculous. I think Kravish may already have his head in his half white coat, and not on the court. And I love David Kravish as a person and player, but he has disappeared when needed most. Biggest point 3 on 5 doesn't work.

Thanks for sharing this...I supported this team after we hired Zo, and I'm considered a sunshine pumper in football, but I silently grumbled by midseason last year and YES I signed the silly overblown internet petition, because of similar feelings that this poor bastard expressed...no matter how positive a fanbase you have, you know when your team is being outcoached...it'll happen this year, but I haven't felt it up to this point.

I think it's helped a lot that our first SEC road games have been against some of the league's worst teams. Get some wins and build confidence.

- Where is?: Willie Carmichael III had another rough game. 1-1 shooting (great put back though), 2-2 free throws, 1 block, 3 turnovers and 4 personal fouls. Carmichael needs to develop his court awareness. At times he's lost his man defensively and will try to cope by fouling his opponent. Once Willie can understand how to use body more, and learn to stop fouling, he can be a real good player. Until then, he's got a ways to go.

We need to try and remember that Willie is a freshman. He is gonna get schooled by some more experienced players and needs a good off season in the weight room. I think Willie has the makings of a really nice SEC player going forward... BUT, he is still a freshman and has been asked to grow up fast.

Also, for all you folks that just can't give up the comparisons, it would be nice if we could talk more about TN basketball and less and less about Cal basketball and their coach. The past is the past, do we need to keep dragging the man through the mud to make ourselves feel better at this point?

Maybe it is just me but it appears that Hubbs is much better in 2nd half and he plays much better when he stays in the lineup longer. Seems he plays better the more tired he gets, kinda like Josh.

Anyone notice the TV announcer refer to Reece as Chievous? He corrected himself after several seconds.

Vandy is pretty awful, but it is an instate team, and at their place. Like you said it will be tough to leave there with a win. We have seen some severely more talented UT teams drop games vs. Vandy in the past.

The only automatic loss in the remaining schedule is UK IMO. The rest of the schedule is wide open for the taking. Love that Hubbs and Reese are coming on. That Punter, Baulkman and Moore have each had some good scoring games when needed with J-Rich is a major plus. If Mostella can join that group consistently - they are going to be a tough bunch to handle with that tenacious D.
