'19 TN ILB Christopher Russell (Texas A&M signee)

Funny that everyone wants this guy even though he is nearly as low rates as Means. I hope people on Twitter don’t turn into idiots if he signs like they did with Means. Both are elite athletes and Russell’s film is phenomenal. His measurables are off the chart too. Would love to have him play lber here

Different offer lists though.

That’s the difference between beating out other SEC teams for a low ranked player and beating out Kansas, Rutgers, and UConn. Right or wrong, those offer lists create completely different perceptions of the two prospects.

They don't rate classes by offer lists though.
True. But would you say Butch’s “highly rated” classes were all that? The cycle was sign a “highly rated” class, absorb transfers, endure injuries and busts, then bemoan the fact the team was so young each year.

I bet a reason Means is not ranked high is because of lack of film. Pruitt saw him at multiple camps, and wanted him on ESD before word got out. He’ll have a more productive career than blue chip prospect like Tyler Byrd.

UCF, Memphis, etc are winning games with guys with weak offer lists. That doesn’t mean they can’t play. It may just mean they weren’t scouted. Look at Josh Allen. He was a 2-star LB going to play for Montclair St until Kentucky offered.

I agree. Mine was a statement not a rebuttal. I don't believe all published offer lists nor do I believe stars are the end all be all.

And I’m going to tell you what I do know.
1.He went to a camp that CJP does in the summer.
2. After that, he committed to Memphis.
3. He decommitted from Memphis, after Pruitt contacted him by phone before the Auburn offer.
4. It took Tennessee a little bit more time to offer, because of evaluations that goes on by Pruitt.
5. He has been a vol fan, with his family being vol fans.
6. His mother is a vol fan as well.
7. His feelings never got hurt by Tennessee.
8. Now, I’m going to have to hear this crap again round and round.
9. From yesterday, there is no influence from no one or a girl to keep him from Tennessee.
10. He is all vol, and he wants to be here so bad.
why wouldn't he just come in as a PWO....earn scholarship....when available....

And turn down other SEC offers?
If he wants to be here vs other schools then he has a choice to make.....

If CJP wants him here then he has a choice....offer is there evidently.....but things change....I don't know the ins and outs of his recruitment and Asked the question out of curiosity.

AV may know.....lol

He has what some of the higher rated hs players don't have- speed and desire. He will be just fine as a VOL.

Some question Pruitt’s insistence on prospects camping, but he knows what his kind of athletes looks and moves like and doesn’t trust the evaluations of eggheads at subscription sites. Fulmer’s fortunes turned for the worse when he went away from personal scouting imo. We’re pursuing this kid because he fits and we ain’t going to be able to steal one with a weak azz PWO offer!

Thanks for clearing that up.....Should be signed then? or are we slow playing.....

Read through this thread....Girlfriend holding him back....so on and so on....discussion from those in the know or not in the know....Who Knows......

I don't know what really is happening or not happening with this kid but I do know that Pruitt is getting players that can play so many different positions on the field. So many of them could be recruited as just ATHLETES. The kids are bigger, faster and stronger. This class is pretty awesome and I think we can expect to hear from some very good prospects that are still unsigned. I think Russell is a very good prospect but I don't know who will come calling now that we have signed such high quality recruits. There are so many high quality prospects who did not sign early.
