I wouldn't step foot in Oregon outside of Portland or the college towns themselves. You think Alabama has some rednecks......

I have never understood how anyone who has ever been to east Tn. could ever bring up the subject of rednecks. Redneck capital

I am a TN fan exiled in Duck and Beaver country because I signed the dotted line a few years ago and this is where the USCG decided to send me. I just wanted to share with you the level of, I guess the best word would be "competitiveness" of the fans here. I have an old beater 82 Ford F-150 that I drive to work everyday. I have the big orange "T" sticker on the back glass. Two weeks ago I was on the way home traveling down a four lane road in the middle of town and this car full of dudes pulls up next to me and start shouting obsenities at me and telling me "We are going to beat your @#$ next year" and so on and so forth... but what really prompted me to start this thread was the day before yesterday I was driving home from the grocery store in my truck on the same road with my window about a 1/4 of the way down, I hear this vehicle driving beside me but I dont look over. All of a sudden I hear "Tennessee sucks!" and a full McDonalds cup slams into my window. I think they were trying to make it in but luckily they missed. Luckily it was in my truck so I just washed it off. I look forward to all the rest I will hear over the next 8 months and especially the week of the game while continuing to wear my UT orange every chance I get! GO VOLS!:moon2::shaking2:

I understand the whole "Your a fan of another team, so I will yell "UT Sucks" or something like that. But as soon as you have a cup full of "whatever" get thrown at an open window in your car....I wished to God you would have instantly swerved your beat up 1980s F 150 and ran those a-holes off the road (wishful thinking is that there was a 100 ft drop off). I don't mind people being jackasses...but when you being a jackass means my physical possessions get ruined....I have ZERO TOLERANCE.

Ok...I am done:)

Oh I am going to roll into Autzen Stadium in 2011 blasting Rocky Top and painted in orange with a few signs... If you watch the game which is sure to be on National TV you will probably see me as I will be the only orange person there that is holding up signs supporting the Vols! lol

I'll be there. My wife is fron nothern califonia and I'm purposefully scheduling a visit for us to go out and see them just so I can go to that game.

I live in Denver, CO and I will be at that game also. Tired of BIG 12 and PAC 10 fans. People in Denver do not root for the Buffaloes. They like Oregon, USC, and others. Texas and Nebraska fans are the biggest demographic in Denver. I hope to god Kiffin's team of Egomaniacs rob campus convenient stores, drive SUVs and do whatever is considered violation of NCAA rules.

GO VOLS!!!

That son is total BS. We may be independent thinking little cusses but we left red neck behind a long time ago. Hip hop ruined it. Now there is just us old timers to carry on.

Quite a bit of Oregon/Northwest connection on the board. I married an Oregon girl and I can't wait to show her and her family a real football atmosphere this fall. I certainly plan to be at Autzen when we roll into town, clad in orange, to celebrate VOL nation domination.

Coastal Oregon is beautiful but really isolated and run-down. Definitely gave Western North Carolina a run for its money in redneck per capita. Anywhere in Oregon along 1-5 in the Willamette Valley is pretty normal, but the rest of Oregon turns interesting quickly

I'm obviously also in the USCG also down in Georgia. I understand the feeling of driving around getting grief from the locals. Once in a bar some dude had his girlfriend grab my hat off of my head and tell me to leave. Keep on keeping on brother, I transfer this year and hopefully will get close to home, if not I'm takin Tennessee with me where ever I land. Go VOLS!

Thanx. I do my best. But as I get older I've notice that it's not as much being a redneck as it is INpolitically correct. And that is me.

Oh they are bad here... More mullets than I have ever seen in one place. I also see a lot of Confederate flags flying which just doesnt make sense and I find hilarious!

Oh come off it dude. I've lived in Oregon almost my entire life and can count the number of mullets+confederate flags I've seen on one hand. I think that what you probably meant to say is that you saw one guy with a mullet and a confederate flag shirt in Oregon but he was actually from SEC country. :D

I also suspect that your multiple attack stories are at least exaggerated. Oregon fans do love their team. However anyone feels about UT here, I can guarantee you that they feel a lot more strongly about their in-state rivals Oregon State and the reverse. Despite rolling around for 20+ years in vehicles with Oregon logos on them, I've never even heard anyone yell anything about it, let alone throw things.

remember winning is new to Oregon fans...they usually suck something awful.

How long does Oregon have to keep winning before it's not new any more? I believe that Oregon has a better record than UT over the last several years.

The next time you they give you some sh!t tell them that is QUACKtastic and that you didn't realize Oregon had a football team...that you thought they Oregon hippies only practiced hugging trees and their women practiced growing beards...that you didn't realize they had a football program in the entire state...that should put them in their place.

Actually, no. That argument doesn't work because the person can simply say that you must not watch college football or ESPN.

If they continue simply tell them Tennessee has 6 Nat'l Championships and 13 S.E.C. Titles...if they continue talking interrupt them by saying 6 and 13....if they still continue just keep saying 6 and 13....

Most Duck fans are also fans of the sport, so they can't be fooled by such arguments. They know that those accolades occurred a long time ago under different coaches and players than UT has now.

You can say "6 and 13". We'll just say "7-6".

As for Beaver fans....just tell them you like your beaver shaved and not smelling like fish....I'm just saying...:clapping::lolabove::eek:k::rock::yes:

I thought Oregon had all the rednecks? :)

Every area of the country has rednecks, that's just the way it is. Every area of the country has its share of idiots, that's just the way it is. What confused me was the rebel flag comment. Why would someone from Oregon fly a rebel flag, I don't understand that one?

Probably for the same reason that they would fly it in any other state. Because the south appeals to them. That or they enjoy Dukes of Hazzard.

It's not like people fly them in the south because they fought in the civil war or were even alive during the time that it was the official flag.

Hmmm... As fans of the sport, you would think that they would also know that tradition is still out of their grasp, as tradition is something that even tennis-shoe $ can't buy.

Now run along and continue believing that football was invented in this decade.

Oregon has been playing football since 1894. Oregon has tradition.

Now run along and continue believing that college football is a 12 team sport.
