'19 TN DT Tymon Mitchell

Going to UGA this weekend

He's definitely on the visiter's list for this weekend. Does anyone know anything about him and the level of competition he plays against? Some are saying he has a committable offer from UGA. He unofficially visited UGA on March 31st. I know Norton and Logue have been in his ear about UGA. Sounds like they know each other. Maybe played against each other or camped together???

UT was recruiting over him anyway.

The Mitchell deal will be interesting to see how it all unfolds over the coming months. Tymon was definitely an in-state prospect the staff prioritized months ago. He visited Tennessee a couple times and most around Mitchell believed that if he didn't go to Stanford (which he visited but felt like was too far away) that the Vols would be the pick. But then the summer evaluation/camp period started and Tennessee pivoted toward other DL. Until recently, Tymon was trending to Vandy, where his dad went to school.

Did Simmons take his spot then?

Seems like Pruitt and the staff really likes the DT Williams out to n Memphis as well.

Mitchell mah have missed his window. Could probably jump on board now. But if he waits too much longer his spot is gone IMO.

That makes sense when reading the tea leaves, so to speak.

Where did UGA even come from? They haven't even been mentioned as an option or recruiting him until you hear about Zion going there. Then Norton has been on him.

Sounds a lot like they think getting those 3 together makes it less like for Norton or logue to flip.

Savion Williams and Elijah Simmons are a better get than Mitchell. Remember we have Middleton also. Those are gonna be 3 beasts upfront for us.

While yet both guys are NPA Elijah is not better than Tymon. Tymon is more versatile and probably the more athletic with Elijah probably being the stronger of the 2.

We need a true NT...Elijah fits the bill for that much better than Tymon. Different skill sets. Enough said.

He said he was a "better get" for Pruitt, not that he was better than Mitchell. As you just said, Simmons is stronger, so likely exactly what Pruitt wants at NG.

UGA started recruiting him hard after Christmas break 2017. He's been on three unofficial visits to UGA this year. The most recent was last weekend for the 'Reveal" event. The UGA staff turned up the heat after he camped on his second visit. He wants to play NT in a 3-4. He has an ACT score of 25 and 3.6 GPA, so his academics look solid. The one negative thing I'm hearing is that the competition he plays against might not be that good, but apparently the UGA staff liked what they saw when he camped.

Well, CJP and staff liked what they saw in Elijah a little more since they have been heavy on him this camp season and fell off of Tymon during the same eval period. I'll take Rocker's eval anyday. It's just a matter of seeing a recruit, but then seeing one you like better, who's got that dog in him.

Tymon is 6’3 310 and Simmons is 6’1 350. Of
course Tymon is more versatile, he is built to play SDE, still play in nickel sets etc. He should be faster and more agile as he is 40lbs lighter than Simmons.

Simmons is 6’1’’ 350lbs. He is a pure NG. In the same light, he should be stronger as he is 40 pounds heavier.

The staff obviously wanted a pure NG in this class and they got that with Simmons.
