'18 TN DT Brant Lawless

I thought Tuttle was playing NT in the spring game?

Just thinking he might move over since Kongbo is no longer DE. Again those are just my thoughts

Looking at how the d line was for Pruitt’s defense last year, merely based on size, a better guess might be:

DE: Phillips/Butler
NT: Tuttle/Emerson
DE: Gooden/A Johnson

Wonder what Zach is doing these days. Hope he is well and has found some manner of peace.

I read an article about him. He spoke about how he is a peace about his decision to not play football after his mom passed. He helps coach middle school football and is working to get his teaching degree. He went through a horrible tragedy but it sounds like he is exactly where he wants to be both geographically and mentally as well.

How does a private school kid not get this done?

Why just private school kids? Not all private schools are the same. Some are really small schools that show no better results than public school. I agree that the school is partially to blame, but ultimately it falls on the player and his family.

I think he is saying he wasnt a day one starter more or a junior year type player and it allows us more room on the 85 roster.

If the guy could contribute in his jr and sr years, that is great. Not all players are ready emotionally or physically to compete in year one.

I think he may mean that some private schools require you to hold a certain GPA to stay enrolled in said school. I know schools like Webb of Knoxville and l MBA in Nashville are very rigorous and require students to stay on top of their studies, no matter if you’ve got a time consuming sport or not.

I don’t have any inside info, but i would think:

DE: Phillips/Emerson
NT:Gooden/Johnson
DE:Tuttle/Butler

I think this is right...I do think Butler is probably Phillips backup and Emerson is Tuttles...but that’s just splitting hairs...and as someone else mentioned, you may see Tuttle and Gooden flip flopped...but that is likely your 6 man rotation right there

Correct.

I believe Lawless better tear it up in Juco if he wants to play for UT. I don't think he gets another shot at UT if he doesn't show more than he has to this point on the field

“A week ago, there seemed to be little optimism regarding Lawless making it. This week multiple sources told Volquest not to rule Lawless out. The situation remains fluid, though, as one person also said not to rule out Lawless still exploring other options.”

Smh. He was a big piece for next year when we lost all our DL. Does that open another spot for 2019?

85 Total scholly limit must have kept Lawless out this Fall. Thought Ryan Thaxton's issue might have opened a scholly for Lawless this year, but apparently not.
