give me any and every DT garner offers. don't care if 2 stars
Would think after the #1 pick in this years NFL draft being a 0 (zero) star recruit out of high school it shows you can’t always trust the rating services… With commitment to focusing on honing your craft and accepting coaching stars do not matter.

They kinda do though.

stars definitely do matter but I agree completely with you and think the sweet spot is a bit of what you are saying and a bit of "stars do matter"

outliers everywhere, but give me elite players and elite coaching

that said, a coach G eval and offer is automatic 4 star baseline for me

But in the context of my entire statement, just meant that a rating is not the end all be all of how great a player can be, the stars were completely wrong on Cam Ward. So what I was trying to say with that statement was if a lower “rated” player comes in and absorbs the coaching and puts in the work, there is always opportunity to outperform your rating. Ratings are great for assessing athletic ability, however they struggle with factoring in heart & drive.

I agree, the rating services are relatively correct most of the time and yes you want to get the best athletes you can. Didn’t mean to completely belittle and paint them as useless. Was just trying to say they are not always correct and are not good at assessing a kids commitment, heart and inner drive to succeed (grittiness I guess).

Agree if Coach G values enough to offer a scholarship, that should equal an immediate rating bump.

When major schools are looking at a 2 or 3 star player and give them a legit offer you can bet they see something there. Sometimes players develop late, sometimes they just need developing or good coaching. Whenever you see a 3 star with power schools offering, you can bet the see something they like. GBO

He’s only been playing football a couple years so I’m interested to see what he does this senior year.

I’m not going to say Coach G can’t miss but I will say if coach G wants him, that’s good enough for me👊🏻

I would prefer they get someone ready to go. Guys that are new to football take too long to develop in the trans portal world. I also wonder if it wouldn’t be better for him to go to a small school and get playing experience and then transfer up.

I think the staff is open to the idea of filling out the back half of this class with local guys that will sit and be developed and add depth in the process
