'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

I honestly don’t know why Hardy played the staff like this. If he really didn’t want to come here then why not eliminate us earlier? At least that would have given the staff more time to push for other guys.

With the ES period this blow hurts. If there was no ES period then it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. But a big position of need and we get screwed like this? This late? Man I just don’t get it.

If we can’t close on this kid there is no way we get any super big recruits down the line. Losing those first two games did this! I expect Baron to go to OSU

I'll agree with 2 and 3, but if the VQ article is correct, no one even the coaches expected this decision. He even told fellow commits he was a Vol. This is in no way on the insiders.
Still has time to change his mind. Obviously a " commitment" means nothing anymore

We just got reminded of a few universal truths regarding Vols recruiting.
  1. Volnation has no insiders...NONE.
  2. Auburn has better bagmen than UT and they're not afraid to use them.
  3. A verbal commitment from a high school kid isn't worth a bucket of piss. Until they sign the LOI, don't consider them committed.
AV told us Hardy has been committed for months. Price confirmed that today.

AV told us Auburn made a last ditch effort and we fought it off. According to Price, the Hardy family sat down with the staff this weekend and told them he was all Vol. Jay was even telling other recruits.

Assuming any of us had known the actual circumstances, we would’ve written the same things AV did. He obviously has insight into what’s going on, just can’t do anything about a kid that changes his mind and doesn’t tell the staff.

Honest question: If you are the UT coaches do you keep the recruiting the kid because of his skill and your need at the position or do you stay completely away because he lied to you and you don't believe he can be trusted?

P.S. Watch AU want to run Gus off when he loses to UGA and Bama and much of their recruiting class change by February.

Man no way. This was about one thing. Kid was All Vol til we’ll after those Ls

I've said this for a while that when it comes to bagmen, we are way behind. Auburn, Clemson, GA, AL, LSU take it to an entirely different level. They all have systems in place that make ours look like the booster club at some rural highschool. It takes years to develop that system. Our cheat game had dwindled to nothing by the end of the Butch error. After Kiffin, Dooley, and then Butch, the sources for these funds had all but dried up. It takes a lot of effort to get them back.

(All conjecture in my part. 😉)

No! If AV isn’t omnipotent, then he’s full of crap. There’s absolutely no middle ground here.

Exactly. Especially #3.

I learn and relearn and relearn that multiple times every year. Yet I still can’t quit you, Recruiting Forum. You have my heart.

If I were Pruitt I wouldn’t keep pushing for him. To me, it would be more like settling if you know what I mean. Hardy obviously doesn’t want to be here. And if he did decide to come here, he may not fully buy into what Pruitt and the staff want. Frankly we need guys who WANT to be here.
