'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

Probably gonna have a South Carolina like recruiting class. I'm sick to my stomach.

I really think the staff had this pegged as the “turn the corner” class too.

I want to forget about it as much as anyone else, but not having the team ready to go out of the gate cost us in more ways than just 2 losses.

This one stings. If he does not want to be a part of what we are building here, that is fine. I don't wish him ill. I do wish him ill when we play Auburn in that I hope we beat that Tiger Tail. Next man up.

Only way we play AU is in a SECCG and I'd reckon they wont be there for awhile with LSU rolling and Bama as Bama.

Atlanta Vol is legit - obviously - and should be treated as such.

But #1: when you’re that close to the situation you can get tunnel vision and #2: people lie and things change.

Hardy is a 17 year old kid. It can be hard to do anything other than tell all these coaches and boosters exactly what they want to hear at that age.

I think for me it was AV is usually very coy about being to optimistic. In this case it was like 100% he's ours. Most can accept when we lose a recruit in hard fought battle, but when one is "locked up" "all vol" and AV is that confident about him committing, it hurts twice as much....

I think most would agree that a top 10 class is imperative in 2021. No excuses.

No. If the law recognizes an 18 yr as an adult, so can I. The kids is responsible for his choices. The choice that he made is low character and despicable. Like I said: Kid is a scumbag.
Kid just made a life changing sum of money for his family who prob didn’t have much. Say we’re talking a difference of 25k or more.. what would u have done in his shoes?

They might have thought up a creative benefit. idk what it was but it may have been better than we could give or we didnt have the chance to counter it. idk.
If we didn’t have the chance to counter it’s because he didn’t want us to

this has way more to do with whatever the hell Auburn did than anything we didn't do.

by all accounts up to yesterday this kid was coming to TN, including from what he apparently told everyone on his visit LAST weekend.

lazy takes up in here today.

Couple things...

Right now, arguably one of Jeremy's 'strengths' is his ability to recruit, and, be a defensive coach. Not sure who recruited Jay; but, ultimately it's on Jeremy as HBC as to who he signs. What i do know is you have a kid, 1 hr from Knox - at a position of need, dire need. You've gone and gotten several of top in state kids, you've positioned yourself well to close a solid group of defensive players in state. Kid has been to see us 8 times, 8.

Whoever or however this happened, its on Pruitt as battle captain. As an elite recruiter you've got to be prepared for negative recruiting. And it seems that we continually lose those battles.

If its Rocker, or his reputation. He has to go. We cannot continue to lose battles on Dlinemen. it's happened too often over and over.

No when you have 2 top 115 DL prospects in your backyard and you let them walk that’s not good.
Of course it’s not good. Maybe we need a DL coach who isn’t **** at recruiting and the results will change. Targeting the guy and his family is just absurd

Lol, I'm still pissed at the "recruits read these boards" comment. The ****** nerve to pretend we're somehow different than other fanbases. And to imply a kid's entire future is based on what .01% of that fanbase is typing after being punked.

If he's gonna base anything off that, then he needs to just start a "life's choices" Twitter page so fans can decide everything else for him.
