TN Commit David Oku

If he waited this long after NSD to make his decision, why not wait another week to see where Brown goes? It just doesn't make sense to me unless Oku already knows where Brown is going.

After visiting all of his options he may have decided that UT was the best fit regardless of Brown's decision. Probably just wanted to be where he was most comfortable.

ok I understand your thinking and I am not trying to bash you, but isn't that kind of what each of these guys wanted. Doesn't both of them kind of want to be looked at as the only person on the team, maybe I am wrong, just the impression I got.

BB has mentioned before that UT doesn't have the talent. Does this mean he wants talent around him so everything doesn't fall on his shoulders or does he want talent around him b/c it will make him that much better? I guess you can interpret how you want. But by signing Oku, that is one more piece of talent to surround him with.

We evidently do not know the rest of the story with Oku and may never know. I think he is coming to UT to be with Brown and this being on the Eve of Charles signing is related.

I just don't understand the timing of Oku's decision though. I assumed this whole time he was waiting to see where Brown went before he made his decision. Naturally, he would commit to us if Brown went somewhere else.

Maybe he does not know where Brown is going and wanted to commit to UT before Brown make his decision so everyone will quit saying that he was waiting to see if Brown went elsewhere.

Otherwise if I was Oku and I knew Brown was going to UT, I would wait and then announce I am going to UT after Brown, which would have been a huge shock to everyone given the rumors.

:eek:k:..... Who else gets called out on this one?

I'll admit 100% I was incorrect. Doesn't bother me either as my sources said the coaching staff really did not expect Oku to sign with UT at all. There wasn't even a hint of question in their voices either.

I hope he's a good back, but I'm far from excited about his addition.

Why? He is a very good APB and a great addition to this offense.

I am very happy to have him, but I agree the excitement is not nearly as much as if he would have signed on NSD or a couple of days later.

Unless, of course, your assumption was wrong. Oku said that he doesn't care where Brown goes and actually has talked to him about coming to UT with him. I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong...but it really might not matter to him. Oku did commit here when Giles was already committed, so I tend to believe him when he says that he doesn't care.

The switching schools in the middle of a semester throws up a red flag, regardless of his reasons. If it were because of grade issues, that's bad. If it was for a girl, that's still not great. Shows mental immaturity.

He may be one hell of a running back, but I'm simply skeptical.

At this point, if we don't get Brown, I think it will be because of our offensive line...I don't think that it will have anything to do with Oku.

I am new to Volnation, but after viewing game tapes of Oku, he reminds me of Chuck Webb. Just watch the tape and see how he changes directions at full speed like Chuck was known for doing. If he is what I think he is the Volnation will be livid with excitement.

Hey man welcome...and I totally agree with your assessment. I hope Oku can become an elite Tennessee back during his time on The Hill. He has all my support!

IMO Oku clearly knows where Bryce Brown is going. Depending on how you look at it, this could good for us or bad for us. But no one really knows until March 16 when Brown signs. I think from what Oku said to KNS that he talked to Brown and that both are coming to UT. JMO.

I agree completely. :good!:

I'm very excited to have the Rivals #1 APB as a Vol.

I hope Kiffin and company lands the Rivals #1 RB on March 16.

That would make a hugh statement.

Oh yeah, it would be great to see the Rivals #7 WR wearing orange at 4:30 today.

If Orson Charles comes today, rest assure Brown will follow. It will send a message to Brown that UT is headed back to the top.

how great would it be to end up keeping oku but trading giles for brown? everyone was mad when giles left, but I dont think anyone foresaw this.

The best thing is that when we land Brown or Charles(or both :crossfingers:) we're going to be ranked higher than USCe on Rivals...

Oh....if ihateorange4 would just come back and take his medicine...life would be grand

Everyone is hinting and sidestepping this, but I'll state it.

SWEEP!!

Come on kiffey let's do this:rock:

I admit I thought we would get BB and lose Oku. Call me greedy but I'd like to have another 1-2 punch like Henry and Stephens. 16th cant come soom enough.
