TN Commit David Oku

Its hard to believe oku waited all this time and didn't have a big press conference like all the guys on NSD

I also found this interesting. I guess that it was not all about the show with like some thought. I guess he was just trying to find what he liked and once he settled on it, it was over. Glad to have him! :good!:

It may have been simple old 'wedding day gitters'... Don't really matter now though, he's coming to The Hill...

Great news!...I heard also this morning that he has even contacted Brown and told him to come to Big Orange Country also!!!...This could be a great start to spring practice!!!

I will be the first to admit that I made some negative comments in regards to Oku and I hope I was wrong in my opinions...but hey he is a great talent with a burst from the tailback position. Welcome to BIG ORANGE COUNTRY...I wander if those silly auby tigers are still chanting running back U?:p

I was just as impressed with Oku as I am Brown. I'll take it, and damn it, it's a great day to be a Tennessee Vol

It was from Josh this morning. I don't listen to Doc, Jeff, and Heather much, because they are stupid IMO, but I wanted to see what they had to say. Josh said that he texted Oku last night after he got the news that he had signed and asked if he could call and talk to him. Oku said sure. Josh called him and one of the question asked was about Brown and Oku said "I haven't been waiting on Brown to make his decision. That was not going to affect where I went to school. I have actually talked to Brown about playing together at UT." Josh said that he wasn't sure if he said that because he knew that it was going to show up in a newspaper article or if it was the truth. He did say however that they were friends.

Does anyone other than me think that this is the end of the bryce brown to UT hopes we all had. After months of watching OKU's decision unfold I don't think there is any way we get Brown. I think that Oku heard from Brown and that he was not going to UT, thats why Oku signed. Just my opinion, does anyone else feel this way.

Maybe Brown told him that because he wanted Oku to sign with TN, and now Brown is also going to sign with us. :)

:) wishful thinking I suppose, but seriously I don't see Brown or Oku wanting to play with another highly touted RB. I hope I am wrong, but I think that the signing of Oku pretty much tells us Brown is not coming here.

It's a good thing for them to be together. Takes all the weight off of one persons shoulders, they can each carry responsibility without having EVERYTHING rely on one player.

I seem to recall there being some concerns about him getting in from an academic standpoint back when he was originally "committed". I know he moved to Nebraska for school purposes. Is there still any concern about him getting in?

Oku said exactly the opposite. According to him, they've discussed going to UT together. Most great RB's have had a quality running mate if they played in a quality conference. UT's "greats" have come in pairs for as long as I can remember.

Some believe Oku's commitment actually helps with Brown since his only concern seemed to be the current level of offensive talent UT has... pretty much the opposite of what you are implying.

I have absolutely no idea where he's going. If he or Charles were completely certain then they would have committed by now.

Just wait it out. The answers are coming.

ok I understand your thinking and I am not trying to bash you, but isn't that kind of what each of these guys wanted. Doesn't both of them kind of want to be looked at as the only person on the team, maybe I am wrong, just the impression I got.

Don't know if this has been posted or not, but landing Oku has moved Tennessee up 2 spots to #14 in the country in the rivals recruiting rankings.

I just don't understand the timing of Oku's decision though. I assumed this whole time he was waiting to see where Brown went before he made his decision. Naturally, he would commit to us if Brown went somewhere else.

If he waited this long after NSD to make his decision, why not wait another week to see where Brown goes? It just doesn't make sense to me unless Oku already knows where Brown is going.
