TN Commit David Oku

If it was 0730, it took a long time for the story to break.

Just wondering if they're short of help in Kiffin's office.

Could be they're afraid to talk as I can't see them not checking the fax machine a little earlier. :)

Surely it was PM or we would have starting hearing about it much earlier, but I don't have any reasoning other than that.

I thought my short staff explanation was plausible... just saying. He does let 'em go.

It'd be nice if we could get BDarnell on the payroll over there. :p

Don't wanna get into a big debate about this, but is bdarnell the person that posted the info about Brown from GQ?

7:30 central. story broke 9:30 eastern or so. only about an hour

I cant believe Oku signed with us I really thought we were going to get BB but idk how hes going to react to the Oku signing and fwiw I would much rather have BB so i hope Oku doesnt screw us over

In my opinion an Oku in the hand is worth two Browns in the bush. I still think we will get both though.

I somehow have a feeling Brown knew this was taking place.

I don't want to over think this, but I think Oku signing today helps with OC tomorrow and gives Brown his time to shine on the 16th.

The trifecta is possible. You have to believe.

Good night, All Vol Oku!

Thank you for making my day!

In the end, David Oku of Lincoln (Neb.) East said he felt like he had to stick with his word.
David Oku has signed with Tennessee.
Oku, the nations' No. 1 all-purpose back, told Rivals.com Thursday evening he has signed his national letter of intent with Tennessee, the school he originally committed to early in the recruiting process before he opened his recruitment again and looked at schools like Auburn, Syracuse, Ole Miss and others.

"I signed and faxed my papers in about 7:30," said Oku, who moved recently from Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert to Nebraska to focus on academics.

"I felt like I had to stick with my word. I really feel like the offense is going to be a good fit for me, and the coaches also made me feel really comfortable."

Oku originally committed to Tennessee back on Oct. 18, but then he backed out of it after the coaching change in Knoxville. He later took an visits to Syracuse and Auburn after earlier visiting Tennessee, Nebraska and Louisville. Ole Miss and Clemson were also somewhat involved, but in the end, he decided to sign with Tennessee.

"Sometimes you know how you get cold feet, and that's kind of what happened here," Oku said.

"But I also have a great relationship with Gerald Jones since he's from Oklahoma, too. He's going to be there for a while, and I'll be able to look to him for guidance and support.

"But I'm done now. All the worries are gone. I'm excited to be a Vol."
