TN Commit David Oku

There was an article just yesterday that said he wasn't visiting anywhere else. Then today there's a new rumor, which is just that...a rumor.

David Oku, of Carl Albert High School in Oklahoma, is the No.1-ranked all-purpose running back in the country, according to Rivals.com. After making a verbal commitment to Tennessee last fall, a source says Oku is expected in Syracuse today for an official weekend visit to the SU campus. At Tennessee Oku was recruited by Stan Drayton, who is now a member of Doug Marrone's coaching staff at SU.

Sounds like Drayton has been working on him at Syracuse.

Don't like the sound of this! :banghead2:

Brent Hubbs is reporting Oku visiting Syracuse. I would call that more than a rumor.

So he is saying that he is visiting Syracuse the day after an article is published? Doesn't make much sense to me, but I guess we'll go with Brent on this one.

Oku is one of if not the biggest recruit for us in this class...but if he follows a mediocre at best position coach to a program that is completely in the crapper with NO signs of coming out any time soon then that is completely stupid of him

UT has courted Lacy, Richardson, and Bryce Brown in the past few weeks, which I'm sure has sent a negative message to Oku.

I understand him wanting to take a couple visits as a back-up plan in the event we had signed two more backs in the class. Afterall, Fulmer & crew recruited Oku and any new signees would be Lane's picks.

This visit is only happening because of Drayton.

I see no reason to panic on this one, if Tennessee signs two more backs in this class, though, expect him to ink with someone else. There are still backs we haven't heard of that are being invited for officials/unofficials between now and signing day.

Syracuse is a back-up plan and not a place where you go to win championships. I think most of us know that.

I have come to the conclusion that KNS is run by a bunch of idiots that have no clue what they are talking about.

If you read Hooker's article, no where did Oku say that he was not taking more visits. He said, "I think I am pretty sold on Tennesse."

Does that statement warrant the title, " Oku Says He Has No Plans to Take More Visits"?

Absolutely Not!! This is journalism of the worst kind. Hooker and the whole KNS bunch should be fired for reporting this garbage.

If it was a kid committed to another school, we would be pumped because he said "I think" and "pretty sold" in the same sentence. The recruiting process as a fan can make your head spin. Go Big Orange.....and not Syra F'N Cuse either.

I don't think we have much to worry about. Syracuse is a courtesy visit/free weekend vacation to NY because of Drayton. Auburn has come out of recent nowhere, but when Oku liked Auburn before committing to us, it was because of Gran, who is now on our side. So, I doubt he backs out of his commitment.

Vacation trip? It's going to be -4 and snowing on Sunday in Syracuse.

I have always wondered why more kids don't have Hawaii in their top 5. I would have them in my top 5 just for the free official visit.
