TN Commit David Oku

I really am looking forward to seeing Oku in Tennessee orange next year. His running style reminds me of one of the greatest running backs in Tennessee history (see picture left). He appeared to be very swifty with the ability to run through tackles, of course that was against high school guys so we'll see how he does on the college level. I happened to watch a Tennessee vs Alabama game from the mid 90's a few weeks ago when we had James "little man" Stewart and Aaron Hayden in the backfield and it was amazing to watch those guys run. I had forgotten how fun it is to watch a great running back.

Excellent....

I think Jerod Askew makes a bigger impact next year. The kid is a beast. Oku most likely returns kicks.

These frosh beasts are going to play at UT a lot more than they did during the CPF years. Once this year's class shows how much PT CLK gives beasts, more beasts will come next year...and so on.

I needed some good news today. Oku solidifying his commitment is definately GOOD NEWS. Just got to get his test scores up and then we will be ready to rock and roll in '09!!

The No. 1-ranked all-purpose running back in the nation is apparently making an official visit to Syracuse University this weekend. Tailback David Oku of Carl Albert High School in Oklahoma is expected in Syracuse today, according to a source, as part of a weekend visit to the Orange campus. Rivals.com ranks Oku as the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country. ... Oku is 5-foot-10,185 pounds and is from Midwest City, Okla. Over a three-year career, Oku rushed 647 times for 4,995 yards and 62 touchdowns. -- Syracuse Post-Standard

So this is just a rumor as well?Or is this old news?

David Oku, of Carl Albert High School in Oklahoma, is the No.1-ranked all-purpose running back in the country, according to Rivals.com. After making a verbal commitment to Tennessee last fall, a source says Oku is expected in Syracuse today for an official weekend visit to the SU campus. At Tennessee Oku was recruited by Stan Drayton, who is now a member of Doug Marrone's coaching staff at SU.

Sounds like Drayton has been working on him at Syracuse.
