TN Commit David Oku

Did you have much faith in Erik Ainge winning as a freshman in Knoxville? How about Casey Clausen as a sophomore in 2001 in Gainesville?

Uhhhh, I did. I saw Ainge come in and beat Florida and thought he was the next Peyton Manning...as did everyone else in the stadium..

Yea, I was hoping we would keep either Oku or Giles, but it's not worth keeping the current regime to have them. We've been bringing in guys just like these two all decade, and what has been produced?

Maybe once the new coach is selected, they will reconsider. I mean, Giles backup choice is South Caroline, cmon! Where else is Oku looking now?

Oklahoma State. Trooper is riding him hard.

Another thing, Oku said he isn't buying into our coaching search, and doesn't believe in the spread. If no one in Knoxville knows who our next coach is going to be, then how on earth does he know we are going to hire a coach who employs the spread? Also, what does his inability to be a factor in any offense say about the player he is?

He lives in Oklahoma, so he's getting a lot of the Mike Leach bandwagon, and thats the exact opposite type of offense he wants to be a part of.

and the road from the top to mediocrity begins.

look for at least five years and the return of Fulmer as head coach in 2013 before the Vols go anywhere but down

Begins?? Are you serious?

I have to admit, I didn't see this one coming. I thought with his close relationship with G. Jones, he would be here regardless. You have to wonder what kind of negative information Jones is giving him. We all know, Jones pretty much says what he thinks.

Gerald has really shown his @$$ lately.

Could MH or someone on staff be keeping these kids in the loop? Sounds like he knows something. Maybe there not saying this is who we are looking at but, these are the offense's for the guys we are thinking about.

MH has called some of them personally.

Oku just told me on facebook that he is still a Vol and will be as long as they don't hire Leach or someone like him.

He said that he had decommitted because he didn't wanna play in the spread. I think he was being told by other coaches that we were gonna get Leach and that wouldn't bode well for him. He's probably gotten word that we will likely land Kiffin and he doesn't run the spread.

I hope that was a clue that someone has told him we are not hiring him. I just don't want Leach. Give me Kiffin or Kelly.

That's good news. We have to go easy on these guys. They're just a little confused.

All the silly new posters around here acting like we'd even consider hiring Leach did the Vols no favors.

He said he would probably de-commit if we hired a coach like Leach or Kelly. Leach I can understand, but Kelly not so much. According to the research I did on Kelly's offense, it is a spread, however it is a run first type of spread offense. The games I have watched they use their running backs quite a bit and not just to catch screen passes either. I think this type of offense would go over very well at UT.

I agree, his spread is nothing like FU or TT.
