"I had a great time to be honest with you," Oku said. "It was just a fun time all the way around for me. One game doesn't bother me at all. I just enjoyed myself."

"It felt like home, I was real comfortable on campus," Oku said. "It's not just the campus, but Knoxville in general is a nice place. I like the environment, the people. Everyone just seems to be positive. I like that.

haha. thanks volsguy12.. thats great news..
i feel real positive about getting a commitment now..

He said the exact opposite of what the announcer was saying..
about the town being so negative n stuff like that

i'm glad Oku knows UT has potential to dominate, and is really an awesome sports town ! :)

"The recruiting game is a business, and you have to treat it like a business,” said Oku, who ran for 100 yards and one touchdown in Carl Albert's 40-7 loss to Tulsa Washington last Friday. "You can't fool around when you're talking about were you'll spend the next four years of your life.”

ER...Does that include the thousands of people booing at the game?:hmm:

he enjoyed it. that's all that matters..nothing was said in the article about the negative vibe, so it's cool by me.

Maybe the fact that his team was blown out in his last game contributed to him not being turned off by the UF result.

If a coaching change is made after the season, it will surely be important for the new coach to re-recruit all of the commits. Fulmer has struggled on the field but is definitely doing his job in recruiting this year.

I can't help but notice, however, that the vast majority have been offensive recruits so far. The fact that we have a defensive recruiter who essentially doesn't recruit probably contributes to that.

I think Chavis is recruiting more this year than he has in a while.

I don't have any direct insider information. I just thought it was commonly known that Chavis never travels to visit a recruit / see a recruit play. Perhaps this isn't extirely true this year.

Carl Albert senior David Oku says he's headed to the University of Tennessee. In an exclusive interview with Fox 25, Oku said the decision wasn't difficult and that he simply felt more comfortable with Phil Fulmer and the entire Tennessee coaching staff. Rivals.com rates the 5'10", 185-pound running back as a four-star recruit. Oku was also considering Nebraska, Michigan and Louisville. Oku, who was wearing a black Tennessee cap, made his declaration directly after rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns during Friday night's 27-14 win over Shawnee. Like all verbal commitments, Oku's pledge is non-binding. Signing day for high school football players is February 4, 2009.
