TN Commit David Oku

do we really need this guy that bad? i mean i don't disagree that he would be nice to have, but isn't Giles good enough?

We do not need a RB but you never know how many will get hurt and how they will pan out. So one more cannot hurt. Do not forget we are in on the Wingo hunt as well although he could play more than RB.

Has he specifically ruled us out or just failed to visit yet?

It's Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota, and Arkansas. He told Pinkel he was 90% sure he was committing soon back in May/June, then he went to OU and was blown away. He might still visit us, but right now, we're not in the top 5.

I would love to have Oku, but I think that he is a luxury for this class. He's obviously a great player, but we have Giles, Toney Williams, Tauren Poole, and Creer to carry the load for the next couple of years.

Oku sets visits: Carl Albert running back David Oku is finalizing his list of official visits for the fall.

The 5-10, 170-pounder plans to visit Florida State when the Seminoles host Clemson on Nov. 8; travel to Tennessee when the Volunteers host Florida on Sept. 20; head to Nebraska when the Cornhuskers host Virginia Tech on Sept. 27; visit Michigan on Oct. 25 when the Wolverines host Michigan State; and travel to Illinois on Nov. 15 when the Illini host Ohio State.

Oku is the No. 82 player in the nation and top-ranked all-purpose back on Rivals.com, the No. 36 player overall on the Scout top 300 and is on the ESPN top 150 watch list

U-M a candidate to land 'home run' Oklahoma back

Not long after Rich Rodriguez took the helm of the Michigan football program, it became clear that the Wolverines' longtime recruiting map had taken a dramatic shift. The most obvious difference was the strong emphasis placed on blanketing the state of Florida. That overshadowed other more subtle changes, like an increased presence in Oklahoma.
Breaking through the barriers set up by Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma and in-state rival Oklahoma State is a daunting task for any program. In most instances, attempts to lure elite talent away from the Sooner State are exercises in futility. One of the rare exceptions to that rule will be Midwest City, Okla., running back David Oku

guys here's something i think could really help us with oku.... if i were a betting man i'd definately put money on it that michigan will not be very good this year.... they lost several players including a couple key O Lineman and Ryan Mallet... they don't have a quarterback bred for running the Rodriguez system and Mike Hart and Manningham are gone.... Hopefully Oku will see a rough season with the new system and come our way

Or he could see immediate playing time and go their way.

The more it rolls on down the line with this guy, the more I think he's not coming here. I'm not sure why I think that but I do. Plus, let's face it, he's more of a luxury than anything.

Don't get me wrong, if he committs to us, I'll be very excited.

Oku has set an announcement date, on the main Rivals recruiting message board sticky list.
Cant read so dont know when =p

he could stretch it even farther into the recruiting season, a lot can change in 5 months. but it does seem a bit odd to set a date like dec 11 up that far in advance

McGuffie will never be a everydown back. Hes got skills but he will mostly see return action and some pt but he wont be the #1, too small.
