Not coming down on you but just want to bring up a few pointsPeople need to remember the scholly count is probably going to 105 so your gonna see some more 3 star development guys taken especially from the state
There were star rankings in 2000. Rivals existed then, as did Scout. IIRC, all three of those players ended up as 4*s.Not coming down on you but just want to bring up a few points
1) Most freshman will be developmental regardless of star rankings.
2) We have forgotten why we trusted coaching evaluations before 2001.
In 2000 if there had been star rankings
Rashad Baker would be a️
️
️
️
Jabari Greer a️
️
️
Mark Jones 4 star probably
Baker was a 1st team All American USA Today and one of the most explosive WRs in the East Coast
Greer was All State TN and All Prep Dixie team. Very good at track and had run 4.3 with a 40 inch vertical. Was unstoppable at JSS.
What happened? BOTH played in the NFL at DB
Greer at the more challenging CB position.
Fast forward to 2025 and people like @Dansky
are seriously thumbing their nose at an OBVIOUSLY explosive player in Anderson.
He’s 4.4 now, probably 4.3 going into his sophomore year in college because he doesn’t have a lot of power yet, but he will. He’s just naturally athletic and fast like Greer was back in 1999. He’s 6’1 with really long arms and great feet.
If you take this kid and transfer him to McCallie or Baylor he’s going to be starting. Dodson last year was a 3 star became a 4 star after he proved he was starting material for Baylor when he transferred there…
Our Man Inky Johnson would have played in NFL as well. You’re gonna ruin a lot of radio talk show topics.
I heard Basillo & this Sinclair clown trash recruiting services & their ratings systems for 5 minutes, then the next statement was they complained about Tennessee being ranked 8th in the SEC. They were too stupid to realize what they just did.
Speed is speed. Emanuel Mosley was a 2 star, 145lb CB that started for 3 years here & is playing in the NFL last time I checked.
I agree he is by far the best of the 3 stars. I like Thompson too but Anderson has another gear on the football field even though they have similar track times.Zay is a good pickup. For the same reason Legend Bey had WVU and Duke as finalists, Anderson was initially recruited as another position. He is a dynamic slot guy that was going under the radar and will be developed as a corner here. Plays both ways so it's not like DB is new to him, but just scratching surface of potential there. The traits are clearly there at 6'0+/170, great break on the ball ability, not afraid of contact, obvious ball skills with receiver background, with legit track speed (won state in 200m and long jump as a sophomore). As he grows more comfortable as a corner and taps into the nuance with Willie Martinez, he could definitely work his way into a role during his career.
Martinez likes long athletes who can recover quickly and clean up mistakes and Anderson definitely fits that bill. This is by far the best of the developmental bunch of guys they have chosen to take, which for some reason has been a lot. Big with explosive speed and burst.
I was looking for that because I vaguely remember that there were star rankings but Rivals doesn’t have them anymore. There were star rankings in 2000. Rivals existed then, as did Scout. IIRC, all three of those players ended up as 4*s.
Believe Inky was a 2* when he committed. May have gotten a bump after he committed, don’t recall.I was looking for that because I vaguely remember that there were star rankings but Rivals doesn’t have them anymore.
Owen’s was a 5 star. And I remember Baker also being a 5 star. But they were all ranked that high because of their All American USA Today type prep rankings

Funny. Emmanuel Moseley was recruited by...<checks notes>...Willie Martinez. Might have coached him too. Maybe those around here who trash WM on the regular (you know who you are) mebbe should just keep pie holes closed. You’re gonna ruin a lot of radio talk show topics.

Moseley wasn't very good in college. Never made any All-SEC list, only had 2 INTs in his 4 year career, and I am pretty sure he is the guy who gave up on that long Florida Hail Mary that cost us the game.Funny. he went undrafted and played very little his rookie year in the NFL. its only as he got older that he became a good player. older and developed by someone not Willie Martinez...
It was abernathy that got beat for the hail mary in ‘17, the 4th and 14 play in 2015 was busted coverage on malik foreman, who then dove at calloway which blocked mosley from making the tackle. Callaway was in the slot covered by foreman and mosley was a solid 10 yards away covering the outside wrMoseley wasn't very good in college.
