'20 TN ATH Reggie Grimes (Oklahoma commit)

How do you determine the difference in a commitable offer and a just for fun offer?
I don't have the time or patience to explain the entire recruiting process to you. Of all the offers we have out there many if not most aren't commitable, same with any other major D-1 recruiting power.

Long story short we can only extrapolate which offers are commitable, and everyone appears to be slow playing him with the exception of OU it appears. It only takes one though.

Should’ve had that chip on his shoulder in high school and his situation would be different right now.
Only thing that could be different is he could have been taken by Bama, which is where I believe he wanted to go.

He's still gonna have every chance to prove himself whether it be at OU or USCe. Free education, for what it's worth to him. Yeah, I think he's done alright.

Kid should have a huge chip on his shoulder going into college, as the narrative on him is mostly negative from what I can tell.

Best of luck to him if he goes to OU, they are certainly in need of defensive playmakers. Hope he goes out there and has success. Feel like there was mutual disinterest in this recruitment.

Well said.
That'd be awesome if he turns it on.
Good luck to him.

He reminds me of Mark Andrews for the Ravens. (Sooner TE)

He'll probably play offense.

Oklahoma 247 said he was never a take for Alabama, and the thought was Oklahoma wouldn’t have room either, but they have decided they will accept his commitment if he wants in.
Rather him go out of conference if we don’t take him. You know, just in case...

Why on earth is this kidnthe no1 rated player in TN? Just go to show how difficult it is to assess these kids. He’s basically only being pursued by sc (from the sec). That’s insane. He should be a low 3*

Your verbage suggest you don't know what you're talking about, but like to sound smart doing it.

What part isn't correct there chief? Are you aware of how many offers we have given? Many more than the number of spots we have available. All these offers aren't commitable...... End of story, have a good day.

And for the record I don't claim to be some recruiting expert, far from it, but I do have a good grasp of how it works through some experience and following this forum.

IMO it's measurables, pedigree and going to all the right camps.

No doubt he’s going to get a chance to go to school for free and play football. My point is, he missed one already in not getting that coveted bama offer.

Here’s to hoping he makes the best of all remaining chances.....

Please, with all your knowledge and experience, tell me why those offers are made if they will never be honored.

Some kids get mad if you offer late. It is common to offer just to get your foot in the door in case.

Some they slow play because they're the 2nd option and have to wait to see what option 1 does.
Some is just to see what they do their sr year. Can't afford to not offer and can't afford a commitment until you're sure.

Devil's advocate: working the angle d1 is correct and the kid is just "saving himself", doesn't that make it more likely he may try the same in college?

I mean you really only have to show something, say, jr year and then impress at the combine. Despite all the faults of the previous staff, I still believe the comment on North.
Something like "he can play whenever he wants, injury is up to him, saving himself".

I totally agree with you.

UT gave out 300 to 400 scholarship offers for this cycle alone. Do you think all 300 to 400 are committable offers? Yes or no?

You don’t want to START RECRUITING after you’ve missed on your top preferences. Also would’ve accepted “hedging your bets” or the old standby “bird in the hand”.
