Vandy hat is in dominant hand. Everyone has money now. So, what is the great equalizer?
Pray for best, plan for the worst. We make the most sense, but he wants to play WR.
We haven't exactly been lighting it up in 2026. Never better time than now to start a heater.
He didn't have best outing as a receiver at Under Armour Nashville and everyone been recruiting defense kinda since then so offense is out of the question. Vandy is recruiting him as that big safety/dime backer that Randon Fontenette plays rn. Think he likes the idea of being used similarly to like a Derwin James and Vandy is willing to do that. However, he was always a guy that everyone had destined to be a Vol in the end and he has now grown comfortable with being an OLB/EDGE at Tennessee imoDepends on if he wants to play wr in college, we’re dead set on him being an edge
maybe... maybe we could create a packageHe didn't have best outing as a receiver at Under Armour Nashville and everyone been recruiting defense kinda since then so offense is out of the question. I don't want this to sound like he's afraid but he's very aware his best trait is his athleticism and length. He's not a big guy and I don't think he wants to be on the line of scrimmage every play doing the dirty work with his build. I think Tennessee has done a good job of showing how they could use him more in space with that OLB part while primarily being asked to be that edge rushermaybe... maybe we could create a package
This is going to be the case a lot moving forward with rev share. Well shouldn't say a lot but everyone has a realisitc board and will spend their money on the guys at the top of theirsIt’s not that we can’t match Candy’s offer it’s the fact he is the crown jewel of their class and could be willing to spend more than we’re comfortable spending.
sounds like you're letting us down nicely. This is going to be the case a lot moving forward with rev share. Well shouldn't say a lot but everyone has a realisitc board and will spend their money on the guys at the top of theirs
Think he's just saying everyone has money in the current landscape (especially the SEC) and each school has to take an NFL-like approach to their rosters now. I'd love to have Wyatt in this class but I'm not sure paying a premium for a player who doesn't have a natural position is the smartest approach either.sounds like you're letting us down nicely.
do you get a sense recruiting isn't where it needs to be be, or something has changed? and we haven't caught up?
Why? Vanderbilt has the largest endowment in the SEC…by far…and one of the largest in the nation. If they decide to put that money into athletics/rev share, they can outspend just about anyone. Certainly Tennessee. If we cannot match Vandy in money then that’s a huge red flag.
Makes sense. I get frustrated when I see Illinois and Arkansas in the rankings, notice I didnt ahead of us. Its past time for us to start hitting on higher rated recruits, and I think we will.Think he's just saying everyone has money in the current landscape (especially the SEC) and each school has to take an NFL-like approach to their rosters now. Vandy likely has Wyatt as the top priority on their entire recruiting board while he's further down ours behind guys like Hiter, Keys, Rouse, etc.
I think pre-NIL this isn't even a discussion but in today's game seeing a few high profile recruits land at lesser programs will become more common. Just look at Josh Petty signing with Georgia Tech last year as an example.
You aren't wrong about their available resources, but for 100 years they haven't done that while their athletics program has largely been second class (especially in football), and rev share isn’t a pool of money you can just keep adding funds to. It is capped at $20.5 mil. Why? Vanderbilt has the largest endowment in the SEC…by far…and one of the largest in the nation. I’m a little surprised it hasn’t already happened. But if it does, it’s not a “red flag.” It’s economics.
Vanderbilt could have all the monies and those bastages would never even close to Tennessee. One of these things is not like the others. You aren't wrong about their available resources, but for 100 years they haven't done that while their athletics program has largely been second class (especially in football), and rev share isn’t a pool of money you can just keep adding funds to.
