Duz any one see the sick irony of him coaching under Kiffin ??
He didn't have enough foresight to see that Kiffin's sandcastle was about to meet with a high tide. For giving his alma mater the middle finger, I say "good on him."

As I was saying, this place is crazy obsessed with Kiffin.

most hated USC in the 1st place because they cheat --- Kiffin is just an added attraction -- you dont see alot of Doolander haters on the Cowboys forum do you ?

Jeez. There's more to life than coaching where you want to. His wife wanted to stay and he would make 2x as much money at USC than he would have coming here.

School loyalty comes in a distant second to providing for your family. Ask Jay Graham.

Sinking ship, real possibility your head coach could be fired in a few short months possibility of advancement at your alma mater. Those are factors as well.. You know.. Taking into account your future earnings potential

Don't come on here and ruin this hate fest with facts! Honestly there were posts at the time saying Butch didn't want Tee.

I was here. Truth is UT rejected Tee long before Butch came here. Dude begged Dooley for a job the season prior and the Dools didn't return his call.

The other equation, and this is not to say it was the wrong decision for USC, but if the fan reaction had not been so angry then Haden wouldve let him finish the year. Kiffin did a terrible job, but it was predictable that they would slide quickly because they have absolutely no depth after the scholy reductions. I'm sure they are all blindsided by this in thinking that it wouldn't be an inseason decision.

There is a huge difference in Dooley rejecting Tee who allegedly called for a job and Tee turning down UT after being asked to consider a position by Jones.

Tee did what he felt was best for him and his family at the time and I personally can't find fault with that. I would like to have him back here, but he did what he felt was best.

I hope he can weather this storm in USC. No matter what, he's still a VFL and led the team to a NC banner.

There are many good reasons to prefer living in southern California as opposed to east Tennessee but your post is dead wrong about him making twice as much at USC as he would have at Tennessee especially when you factor in the difference in purchasing power between the two. Lest we forget the absurd amount of money we were paying Monte Kiffin ($1.5 mil per year) and Ed Orgeron ($600K per year) and what we tried throwing at Rodney Garner ($500K per year). USC is a private school so they don't have to disclose their salaries but you are either overestimating them or underestimating Tenn if you think there is much difference in what we pay our coaching staffs or in our passion to field a good team. My guess is Tee's wife wanted to stay put and he probably didn't want to relocate again so quickly...and he may just prefer L.A to Knoxville as hard as that is to believe. I also don't understand why he is held in such high regard as an assistant coach. He hasn't been doing it very long and his supposed ties to the south didn't help USC sign either Jalen Ramsey or Jason Hatcher who were both committed to USC last year at this time. Tee also tried like hell to get in on Vonn Bell, Marquez North and Jalen Hurd. Once again, no dice. If he is a great recruiter he has yet to show it on National Signing Day and his star WR last year Robert Woods was openly dissatisfied with his role in the offense - ditto for Marquise Lee going into last night. To sum it up, let's not take it personally and be vindictive to one of our own for not coming back here. It really isn't that big a deal. :peace2:
