TKJr

We agreed right up until the last sentence.

There are those of us living in Knoxville that have neighbors, church members, people in our circle if friends that are connected in many ways to what is going on in the AD. And they talk. It's way more widespread than you may think how many 1 and 2 degree of separation relationships there are in this town. It's not a big place.

Yep. It's not hard to believe this stuff. Hell, I have a decent amount of "insider" information bc I live near Clemson, I got to church with a few of the players parents, one of my co-workers had a large part in Kelly Bryant's life, he want to Wren HS, which is 10 miles from me. My wife and her brother are alum and her brother lived in the apartment right next to Tahj Boyd and Sammy Watkins. Another co-worker is an ex-boyfriend of Nuke Hopkins mother. So I hear a lot about Clemson. Lolol. Unfortunately. Still interesting gossip tho.

And I can tell you this: I don't hear rumblings of any dysfunctional crap like I do from Tennessee people who know people within the program. Last negative thing I heard about Clemson was when Chad Kelly was kicked off the team for getting in Dabos face during practice.

They are saying it will never happen this year. That is pure speculation.

All these threads are speculation. Nobody is going to do anything untill the final game of the season is played.

But to be clear...NOTHING in this post is speculation?

If it is shouldn't you use "IMO"?

No,it's not just this one post,it when someone says fire Butch you say it won't happen. If someone says this coach or this coach should be hired you say it will never happen. If you know this as fact ,I appreciate it,if you don't then it is just opinion. Everyone doesn't agree with everyone's opinion but that doesn't make theirs any less than yours.

I atleast tell you why it won't happen. If he's 8-4 this year he WILL NOT BE FIRED.

That would get him a bowl game and with a win there would be 9-4. That's holding her steady after losing some players to NFL which is why we were picked to go 8-4 in the first place before the 1st game was played.

All if which is your, admittedly, uninformed opinion....since NOBODY on here has any inside information. Right?

Maybe, I won't defend CBJ's approach to handling his players it is lacking in several areas but ultimately each player is responsible for their performance on and off the field. Hurd chose to showboat during a game. Hurd chose to pout on the sidelines. Hurd chose to take plays off. Hurd chose to create issues within the locker room. Hurd chose to practice like he owned the place.
And Jones tolerated or even encouraged all of this. Hurd shouldn't do it. That's a fact. But a a coach is responsible for dealing with it effectively when a player tries to do it.

The bold above is 100% Jones.

Way back in the age of dinosaurs, I played for a very successful HS coach. He took over in my 8th grade year from a coach who let the star players skip practice all week then play on Friday. He usually produced above 500 teams but never won the conference much less the state. The first act of the new coach was to tell the team that if you didn't practice (and we hit live every day) then you didn't play. After the first game, the best player on the team, a RB, tried to claim he was hurt. Coach ripped him a new one but let him sit out of practice because of his injury. Come Thursday (walk through day)... the RB decided he was feeling much better. On Friday, he sat the bench all game long. He quit before the season was over.

That coach went on to win around 15 conference championships and 8 state championships in 20 years or so. You can NEVER build a team by tolerating or encouraging prima donnas.

CBJ tries to be their friend during the week and acts like he is having a stroke during games. He has never balanced the two issues but each player plays for their teammates not the coach. He obviously had his issues with Jones but that doesn't give any player the a free pass when it comes to behavior that is detrimental to the rest of the team. Jones is a terrible coach but each player that agreed to play for UT knew what his track record was as a head coach and that was mediocre at best while at UT. Anyone who has ever played a team sport at a decently high level knows that you are never going to get along with every coach which is why you play for your teammates. The guys you sweat and bleed with not the coach. A player that has no problems creating issues that leads to losses without a care or concern isn't a player that others want to play with or depend upon.

You may be right but I don't know if he tries to be their friend or not. Hurd is responsible for himself. Jones is responsible for all players.

Wrong.

He is a PR nightmare.

And THAT is the only thing, short of a scandal, that will get a coach fired quicker than a W/L record. He is a bad representation of the program and the Tennessee brand name. He has turned it into a laughing stock of CFB. Every article. Every channel you watch, they are LAUGHING, openly, at this coach and this team.

Anyone can stomach a few losses on the field. It's football. But it's the constant moronic, dodgy crap he does that's getting his ass nice and toasty. The players being at each other's throats is the next thing an AD is going to see and know the coach is not effective or in control anymore. And if you don't think Currie is already getting his ducks in a row behind the scenes, then YOU are willfully ignorant of the plain situation that is right in front of your eyes.

I commented over in the Jennings post that more would come out soon. You can choose to not believe this or can you finally understand that Butch has lost most of this team ( that came from a player). Believe what you want but time will tell all.

it's a message board, and it's a lot of anonymity.

someone posts something says they "know". there's speculations on past transgressions. some can be substantiated just due to the fact some kids have transferred, under varying degrees of 'ruffled feathers'.

i get that there some of you out there that do have some type of insider information. sometimes it's accurate, sometimes it's not.

but i don't know any of you. lol. so, if any/all of this turns out to be true, then i think we all know that story ends, rightfully so. and that will happen whether it's posted here or not.

so, if it is true, what really is gained by posting it here? what purpose to does it really serve? at that point, imo, it goes beyond the "entertainment" factor boards like this are supposed to serve, and it moves toward "fulfilling agendas". that i might agree with the basic premise that CBJ should no longer be the coach here, doesn't matter.

i just can't find a reason that makes doing so anything other than pushing narratives. again, if they're true, what's going to happen is going to happen, regardless if you post it or not. that kind of truth always comes out, and it's not sustainable to run a program that way.

and there is plenty of information out there about recruiting and players comments on the atmosphere, family culture, relationship with coaches etc...that is contrary to many of the things being portrayed in this thread.

so i'd just say that like in most things, IF there's any truth to any part of this, it probably lies somewhere in the middle.

anywho.....carry on.

Because we are sick of this coach and his BS and his cult like followers.

I'll be shocked if this mess of a team can manage 5 more wins based on how they have played to this point.

Do you know what an unfounded rumor is?

Its not unfounded. A friend of mine is a former UT basketball player from the 80's. He has been hearing of this and speaking to me about it for weeks now. Now others are starting to hear the same rumblings. Believe what you will.

Save your breath....they'll just demand a "link" and dismiss you when you won't give them one.

Well they would be disappointed, I'm not the one to out the names of folks and probably said too much already. Fortunately I'm a big boy and don't need the validation of others.

Good man....only way to be around here.

Again with the use of 'We'. There are various stages of satisfaction (or dissatisfaction). Not possible to simply explain away as Cult Like followers. You though are clearly 'done' with Butch.

Why does nobody question Butch's answer to the Jennings question in Mondays presser? Like most of what he said it was disjointed and made less than no sense at all. It reeked of avoidance.

Thinking the same thing. His response about JJ not being on the sideline was essentially that he's so competitive that he can't stand it, can't persevere through the pain of being there and not playing and Butch understands it........yet his JJ comments came right on the heels of saying the freshmen need to understand that they can be a great teammate and have strong impact on the games from the sidelines and they need to understand and do that so they can be better teammates. Complete contradiction imo.

It's been reported JJ has family issues at home and CBJ is simply trying to protect his privacy.

It was weird. I felt like I was watching Hillary Clinton in a debate.

Apparently a vast majority of you keyboard warriors think it's a great idea for our head coach to blast our teams dirty laundry on the news like some kind of college soap opera. It's none of your damn business what goes on inside that locker room.

That doesn't explain the disjointed response. Just respond that there are circumstances we are not going to discuss.

Exactly. Once you start the trail of lies and cover-ups you tend to forget the path that got you to the point you are. That is when the messages get convoluted and people start to question every answer or remark you make.
