Look, if we've upgraded at DC, great--but all the yahoos who've been trashing Jancek because of our second half defense in the losses are wrong, and the title game proved it. You've gotta score points in this game--period. And you especially have to score in the second half when the game is on the line. Why? Because the other team, if it is good, is going to score--I don't care who your DC is. I think bama and clemson have pretty good defenses, and both played well at times--but they both also got gashed ALL NIGHT. You could have put the NFL's best DCs with those squads, and you know what: they would have still been gashed. You think anybody was going to shut out those teams in the second half and win 17-14 or 24-20? Think again. Yes, get a good DC and play good defense--but if your offense goes in the toilet, and goes conservative, in the second half like UT's did, against good teams, you will lose--LIKE WE DID.

Well said. :clapping:

How about Saban pulling an on-side kick late in the game last night.....which turned into 7 points. That took some nads and is the same kind of aggressiveness we needed in the L's last year.

I believe most would put the Bama game on Jancek's PRO list...cept for the fact that the offense had just given the team a LATE lead for a change. Odd choice for your rant also...the offense definitely wasn't conservative in that particular selection.

Our offense was very conservative late in the 4th qtr trying to protect the lead against Oklahoma and Florida!

That's why I said THIS was an odd choice...we're talking about the Bama game. :hi:

Based on last night UT defended Bama better than Clemson. But, UT had the benefit of an off week and defending a Bama team that was gassed after what, 8 straight games.

Against a team starting two true freshmen on the OL...heard all week that Bama was going to stunt them back to puberty...didn't happen...didn't happen.

I gotta tell you....in the championship game, Watson missed two (that I remember) throws that should have been touchdowns....that interception was woefully underthrown and even if the coverage was disguised if he throws that ball where it should have been thrown its 6 points...he actually underthrew a lot in my opinion...still a great QB and Bama dodged the proverbial bullet....which good defenses do IMO...

Then that's the only two throws he missed. He was money all night.

Most of the criticism I've seen has been for the UF and OU games. Either way JJ is gone and we appear to have upgraded. Just let it go.

All the yahoos who analyze one game in a vacuum as if it the gospel are the ones that are wrong. The bottom line is that our defense got gashed late in games whether we were scoring in the second half or not -- Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama are examples where the offense gave a late lead to the defense only to watch the defense get gashed and in many cases by very weak offensive teams. Thankfully, the clock ran out on Georgia and SCar fumbled.

So, get off your high horse and face reality. We need to get better with our fourth quarter defense to win a championship of any kind.

Honestly I haven't read that many posts of people saying unrealistic negative things about JJ. He did improve our D, he did seem to coach up some players. His D also had an abysmal rating for 4th downs and some players seemed to regress a little. Is it all his fault? No. Is he at fault for some of it? Yes. Every game is different, so I am not sure you can draw any type of conclusion, good or bad, from a game Bama plays against any other team.
Coach Shoop is our DC now, so lets move on to supporting him and let JJ go coach where ever he may end up coaching. Time to say Go Vols and look forward to a bright future in 2016!!!!

Are you Jancek's cousin or what? Let it go. Whatever the reason for the change - the result is an upgrade at DC for 2016 and beyond. No reason to keep beating this horse.

Only thing wrong with your post IMO, is you omitted the importance of special teams. You think Bama wins that game w/o special teams play? NO WAY! You have to play aggressive in ALL 3 phases of the game for a minimum of 60 minutes to beat quality competition period.

We have a new DC because:
1) CJJ got a girl friend while being married....not the death penalty.
2) Paraded said girlfriend.....not good, but change and survive.
3) Started to become a discipline issue for CBJ.......Bad!
4) Asked to lose girlfriend, said no, got fired. End of story.

My take on things.

Clemson played pretty piss poor defense by blowing coverages and missing tackles, so I have no idea what the hell you are talking about
