Titans QB future

He's a carbon copy of Vince Young. I'd hope they'd move away from that type of QB. Cam did more damage with his legs and so did Vince.

They'll try to make a pocket passer out of him and have him read defenses, he'll fail at that. I don't want to watch him try to figure it out for 4 years until they trade him.

Similar, but not a carbon copy. Compare Cam's throwing motion to Vince's and see which one looks better. Also, I just feel like Cam's work ethic is much better than VY's although I really have no proof of that.

VY got a 6 on the Wonderlic. Unless Newtons is even close to that low I have faith in him.

VY was also a faster runner than Cam and probably a better passer as well. He also played much better on the biggest stage (BCS) and did it multiple times.

That's debatable.

That's why I said probably, but it wouldn't even be debatable if not for Trent Dilfer jumping all over Cam's nuts after that workout. As far as live action in college against other teams, neither was very good as a passer but VY was probably better. And whoever said Newton has better stats has a short memory...VY was the first 3000-yard passer and 1000-yard rusher in NCAA history, was the highest rated passer in the entire nation and put up 467 yards in the NC game. If he still can't make it as a passer, I have HUGE questions about Newton from what I've seen of his accuracy. And like I said, he's also slower.

honestly though - opinions on him aside - that's not something that, necessarily, really works towards translating to being successful in the NFL or not

There's a little bit of a clutch factor (see: Cardinals game or Texans/Giants games in 06) but in general, you're right...it just doesn't do much to assuage my concerns about newton either.

Cam has better throwing mechanics

serious question. How good was Auburn really w.o Cam. Would their record even have been close to the same?

No. Their defense was about as air tight as a screen door. Without Cam, they wouldn't have been able to score enough points to keep up. They would have been at least 4th in the West behind Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas.

I think they would have gone 7-5 without Cam. I cannot stand Cam, but he was a Damn good college player. I think he will bust in the league though.

I don't know how Cam Newton will pan out but Auburn ran a ton of gimmick plays for him. He was always doing these weird kneel things and running forward before dropping back. Teams had no idea what they were doing half the time and it left receivers open by 20 yards every other play. He did thread some balls and make some nice throws but Auburn's gimmick plays made it easy for him. NFL defenders aren't going to cave when he steps up in the pocket and he won't be throwing to guys who are open by a mile.

The whole offense was tailored around him being a threat as a runner. Basically looked just about like what Florida did with Tebow. You're right, NFL defenses won't care about his legs, they'll play him straight up. That's why there will be a huge learning curve for Scam and buyer beware.

why so much hate on cam? and no one going with Mallet either? I personally think Mallet will be the best qb in this draft. But i dont see any reason why cam couldnt come into the nfl and make an impact as a starting qb.

and as for the next titans qb, why not trade for Kolb? If i was the titans GM i would be all over that. then i would draft Julio Jones or Green if he were available. that would be one stout offense in my opinion.

Once again, what has Kolb done that makes him worth anything?

he's too expensive. The Philly office wants two first round picks for a Kolb trade has been the reported word.

also for once in quite sometime, receiver really isn't a concern, especially a major one. The defense was horrendous and needs much improvement at various positions on the field. DT,OLB,S, & CB all need new bodies, as well as arguably MLB or DE; as well as interior Oline

You CANNOT have a first, and probably not have a 2nd round pick, if you trade for Kolb. That is what you probably have to give up to get him.

Cam did not impress me in the combine so he might end up not being so hot but only time will tell. I have to ride the fence on him bc I have no idea. But as for our future QB, you guys think Gabbert would be a good fit? Or maybe we could try and get Carson Palmer but I'm not sure how much faith I have in him really lol.
