Titans Owner Bud Adams wants Peyton Manning

PM is going to be throwing for us at the meeting, only team he has done that for. Plus the fact his dad and wife want him in Tennessee that has to tell you something.

As with the Gruden stuff, I don't think any of this will be a factor. I think he'll make the choice based on what he wants. I do think the Titans have a good shot though.

I'd say Titans have a 50/50 chance. Him signing wouldn't surprise me but neither would signing somewhere else. I don't see a clear cut favorite. It's narrowed down to less than 5(that we know of). That whole group is the favorite. Wouldn't rule out a surprise team though. I really do want the Titans to pull this off though because I want to re-build or go for it all. Just not sure Hasselbeck could pull it off. Playoffs, possibly. Super Bowl, probably not. Manning obviously gives us a better chance if we're aiming to win now. I think that's the goal with or without Manning so that means Hass. Manning >>> Hass is what it comes down to since I think Locker sits behind Hass regardless(barring being at the bottom of the standings out of playoff contention).

How quickly do we forget. Players don't care about the past or where they come from. We have seen time and time again that family, owning land, good friends, or any history they have with a certain state or school usually never pans out for us. With that being said I think its a 50/50 shot the titans sign him.

$90M over 4 years has been thrown out in some of the other threads...

Not sure of the validity of sources.

As a Broncos fan, don't want for that much. Let the Titans pay if they want to. Cards can't afford that. It would be stretching it for the Dolphins. Can the Titans even afford that? That's $22.5Mper, which you might not pay depending on the guarantees.

We could do it but it would take away almost our entire cap.

Yeah, $90M/4yrs is what I've been hearing also. I'm for it, actually. Manning has said he will include a injury clause in the contract.

which would be dumb.........but Bud Adams..........

Would be dumb but it depends on how it turns out. Celtics gave up a lot for a small window. They got a championship out of it. As a Titans fan, Manning could give them the best chance they have at a Super Bowl since McNair to Dyson. It's a chance you'd have to make based on hoping to win now. He's coming off an injury but we've seen what he's capable of. Look at what the Saints gave up for Ricky Williams and what the Redskins just gave up for RG3. Both were unproven. Saints didn't win a SB with him but they went on to win it within a decade despite all the picks they gave up. Titans only give up cap space to sign Peyton if they pull it off. Might not be the favorites but he gives them a shot to go the distance. Titans aren't great but they're not horrible. Peyton would give worse teams a chance to go the distance if healthy. It's Peyton Manning...

Miami doesn't have enough money to match IMO and they have no weapons for Manning.

The pieces are in place in Tennessee for Manning to win big and they are in the process of adding improvement s to the OL.

It will not come down to money as some think. Manning will make his decision based upon the situation and how he believes in an organization-from the front office, to the coaches, to their philosophies. Once he makes his decision, he will have Tom Condon work out the best deal possible for him and make it work.

It sounds too good to be true, I guess like all news involving Vols and Titans we will wait and see if everything falls into place. Peyton will sell jerseys anywhere he goes, but here? You might not be able to walk 30 feet without seeing someone in one.

My question is if Titan fans will spew hate at Manning if he decides not to go there? I hope not

I don't think so. I don't get that feeling at all. Sure, there will be a few crazies that go over the top, but I don't believe that situation would be similar to Otha Peters or Dalton Santos spurning the Vols.

I guess it's possible, but I tend to believe that most of the time the people that go overboard with that type of criticism are booger eaters. If that offends anyone, sorry. Don't be a booger eater.

I love peyton, but I wouldnt want him here cause that money to have him would stop us from being able to keep other players we need.

I think it's going to come down to money, community, and a free reign offense....in no particular order. Is Tennessee going to give him full control of the offense like in Indy?

Since Eli was comfortable with Chris Palmer as a position coach, I'd say he'd give an endorsement of CP to big bro.

I won't. I didn't spew hate for drafting Locker. Still in "wait and see" mode on that one. I'd like to give him a chance since I don't think Hass leads this team to a championship. I'm okay with rebuilding given where we're at, I just wouldn't mind going for it all with Peyton. I do think it would be hard for him to sign against the Colts. I have no expectations one way or the other. I didn't pull for him on the Colts because of my allegiance to the Titans. I'd understand if he puts his allegiance to the Colts over playing on a rival team just to come back to Tennessee.

Doesn't mean I won't be crossing my fingers that he thinks this is the best place to win and the Titans go for it all.

Agreed, offense wise we are the best outside of maybe Arizona.

But if we give up the 2nd fewest sacks again... He has all day to throw and Chris Johnson will go off when given the ball. Opposing D's will have to respect the Titans ability to beat them for 25 yards regardless if it's run or pass. If we start Locker over Hasselbeck, I'm okay with that. If we're starting Hasselbeck, I'd prefer Peyton over Hass.

Denver's offense isn't too bad either. #1 rushing and the young recievers are catching on. D. Thomas was one of the top recievers in the last seven games, he was out due to injuries prior to that. Losing E. Royal will hurt. The offense is young and talented.

I'll be disappointed if he goes somewhere else, but I'll love Peyton whether he comes to the Titans or not.
